Rio's got a great setup..
Penn and Teller were playing there last August, they are worth a look. There is also an impersonator show at the Stratosphere-the American All Stars that is GREAT !!
As for gambling...take it light until the last night or 2 of your stay. Nothing worse than being in a city as cool as Vegas with nothing left in your pocket ...There are a ton of things to do without spending alot of dough. Take a cab to the strip and check out the Bellagio and all the sites ....

budget yourself. if your there 3 days have a minimum of $200 a day. once your daily bankroll is gone get in your room and stay there! lol. vegas is intoxicating for 1st timers and its an awfull place to be if your broke half way into your stay.if your driving bring your own beer and put it on ice in the bathroom sink. youll not be sorry.lol.go to the pub at monte carlo. its got theee best microbrews in nevada.have a great time dude.

I don't know what type of gambler you are, but I'll be the first to tell you that I'm not going out to the craps tables to blow $2,000 --- I'd prefer to place my $$$ on some football games or something I've got a better feel for ---- if you're frugal with your $$$, do yourself a favor and walk around the strip and see as many of the casinos as you can ..... the "cheaper" the casino, the easier it is to get drinks at the snap of a finger ....
since you're staying at RIO, you HAVE TO hit their buffet ....... more food there than you'll ever see in your life! make sure you go to that place HUNGRY
also worth checking out the breakfest buffet at the Flamingo
