Vandy -- Miss St

Guys, early yesterday afternoon I laid a bundle on Vandy -10 and UConn -6, and left to do some errands. When I returned a couple of hours later the lines had moved to -13 and -7.5. What I want to talk about here is the Vandy game.

Most of you know that I and anyone who follows my picks made a bundle last year going against Miss St. Well, I'm not going to tell you to rush out and take Vandy at -13, but I'm very happy with my wager at -10 and I think they win this game by at least 2 TDs.

What I want to warn you about is: no matter how many points they want to give you, do not take Miss St under any circumstances. I heard someone remark that Vandy shouldn't be a double-digit favorite over anyone in the SEC, and that they were going to back Miss St just on that principle. Don't fall for this kind of thinking. State's starting QB is out, the 2nd teamer has a sore arm that has limited his range in practice, and since he is physically unfit to play a whole game, they're going to have to play a true freshman part of the game, one that they had hoped to redshirt. Original 3rd teamer transferred when he found out he was going to be 3rd team.

Miss St is not going to be pretty in the next couple of weeks. They are beat up from battling (?) LSU last week, and are not real excited about travelling to Vanderbilt this week. Bet against them if you want, but avoid backing them at all cost.

State sucks!

I totally agree Reb. State is absolutely terrible. Saben did everything in his power to keep the score down last weekend and still won by 51. State will be bad for years to come. They will not win again this year!

Thanks for the info, Reb. You were all over MSU's downfall last year and helped many of us ca$h in on it, so I definitely believe you this year. Plus, Vandy has been a covering machine this year but not winning. That has probably actually kept them below the radar, lots of value with them. Had they pulled out some of those 3 point losses, they might be a 14+ point favorite. Keep up the good work.

Miss St. QB Conner is doubtful with a bruised right knee.

This game still scares me. Vandy giving up over 10 to anyone is just hard for me to accept.

Watching the Navy & Vandy game no in high def

1st half only way navy could move the ball was by passing, scored on a broken play, and score the 2nd td on a vandy fumble inside the 30. no one doing the play by play could understand why paul johnson changed to the soph qb, lost the momemtum in the 2nd qtr. Vandy does seem to turn the ball over though, but they appear to be running the ball well against navy, and receivers are usually open, although qb cant hit them that often. I'm not sure if i would be willing to take them if the line moves over 14, that would be a 4 point move change vs the open, can say it would happen but usually does not on the side.

If i see anything different in the second half replay i'll let you all know.

p.s i did win money on vandy against ole miss and navy in the last couple of weeks.

final thoughts

Have see Vandy play three games now, and had them against Navy, and feel that I was lucky to win that game with the points. They have no sence of urgency, just like to grind the game out, and have no real passing game. My biggest concern is that they do not handle the ball very well, even in non contact situations. When I first saw the opening line, I felt like NY Reb, It was a bet the farm game. I have no money on the game, but if I had bet a few dimes at 10 and the line was over 14 i would lay off the whole amount on MSU. Not sure if I would take MSU though either. Best would prob be the under.
