Unfortunately, this was edited after the start of the first game of the night (Anaheim/Columbus). This is not allowed. The rule calls for a 5 unit penalty with all plays graded no action. However, with the difficulties experienced accessing the forum yesterday, I will waive the penalty and grade all plays as losses (which they are anyway). Hope this is fair to everyone.

other posters made it on time... Rosemary posted plays at 06:39 PM. And Silver Pegasus at 07:06 PM... So what was wrong with the board? And scripter had all his plays 3 hours before cutoff time... So was it really necessary to edit his post if he was aware of the rules? Is this fair to everyone? I dont think so. At least not for me...

I’m still waiting for a response… The rule is clear …. When you edit your post after the start of the first game you will get penalized -500 units! I can’t understand why this is an exception. JOH, you have been following the rules by letter since day 1. You didn’t count my picks when I posted them in a second post, cause the rules said so, and you did give that other guy a 500 penalty when he edited his post the other day. I really can’t understand “the difficulties experienced accessing the forum”. He didn’t have any problem getting his picks on time. He actually edited his post 30 whole minutes after the start of the first game. Cause I saw his first pick before he changed it to Atlanta, it was the Columbus Blue Jackets -.5. The first period of that game was 10 minutes already in the game. You really surprised me with your decision not to follow the rules for today’s grading and “follow your heart”. Btw, chach is playing some heavy chalk right now. He is risking 740 units on the Flyers who are trailing 3-1 after 2… Does that mean he still has the time to edit his post and get a penalty of just 500 units?

I've been out since I posted the standings this morning and just got back. I must admit, I saw this coming. You guys have been doing a heck of a job posting your plays with minimal errors, which in turn makes my job that much easier... and then, with a week to go, this happens. If you remember, back on Jan 17th, we had a similar episode involving HABSMAN. He edited a post after the start of play that day which called for a 500 point penalty. On that day, the website was running slow and people were having difficulty with access but people were able to post both before and after HABSMAN made his post. My intention was to issue the penalty but I deferred to The General for arbitration. The General ruled no penalty should be given and any plays made on games not started before edit was made would count. As was the case yesterday, people were able to post both before and after scripter made HIS post and edit. I based my judgement on what I thought was a similar situation yesterday and graded it likewise. Below is the link to the thread of Jan 17th...

If i remember well, HABSMAN made 2 posts and in his second one he was asking theGeneral to delete one of them cause the 2nd one was a duplicate of the first one. TheGeneral deleted the first one so the 2nd one with the comment saying to delete was still there. So therefore HABSMAN edited his post to erase that comment... That was thegeneral's fault...

I’m just curious why this is a special situation for JOH to treat it differently... A week ago JOH said that he wouldn’t like to extend the contest date since he’s been following the rules since day 1….. To anyone who is concerned. It sounds like Scripter is willing to accept responsibility for his edit and take the penalty. I do however understand that Jack of Hearts is trying to do the right thing in light of web-site difficulties. I will speak with him, and ask him if he is OK with the 5 unit penalty for Scripter. I am not over-ruling him, I am only saying I will talk to him. I have no authority here. Please be patient, I am not sure how soon I will be able to get in touch with him.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Have had other things to attend to. In view of what has transpired since yesterday, it would appear that scripter, in describing the situation, feels that a penalty is justified. Hearing it from he himself, I believe, lends more credence to the fact that he was, in fact, guilty of an infraction and should pay the price. Also, the fact that he able to post with no difficulties during the day only strengthens the arguement against him. I honestly believe he misunderstood the rules, as he said, and had no intention to cheat, but really, his interpretation of the rule makes no sense, and with 20-20 hindsight, he comes to realize this after the fact. The ruling will be a 500 point penalty with all plays posted graded 'no action'.
