Agreed. Being a PAC10 guy and having played against the Don James led Husky teams it's sad. I just remember them pounding the ball, playing great defense and being sound in the kicking game. PAC10 football was USC, UCLA and UW. And you are correct about Husky fans. I know Autzen is loud and they have passionate fans, but there was no tougher place in the country to play than in Seattle. It always seemed to be drizzling rain and windy. I remember seeing our punter Mike Black get so frustrated during warmups because the wind was knocking down his punts or it would check-up and bounce 15yd backwards after hitting that hard turf they used to have. You could never get the proper cleat to get traction on the field. If it did not rain, they'd water it. I just remember as a freshman seeing UW come out of the tunnell in those purple jerseys and think to myself, "damn they are even bigger in person than on film".
I wish them well but not sure Sarkisian has the mettle to live up to the standard left by the Head Dog (Don James).

Man I feel bad for Husky fans, pathetic Choice. Sarkasian will be exposed at UW, he doesn't have all these 5 star recruits to mask his mediocore at best coaching. THis guy is a chump who looks slightly above average due to the superior talent at his disposal. He can coach and develop QB's no doubt, but he ain't no master schemer.

I hadn't thought about this for awhile. But I think like many uw fans perceptions this is off base.
FACILITIES
Of all the stadiums in the conference UW has the BEST location however it is in an extreme state of disrepair and as of right now there is very minimal support for fixing it. Estimates are it will take over 300 million and that money doesn't appear unless the dawgs start playing top 10 like football.
There is a growing sentiment that UW should be playing their games in Qwest field. That property is too valuable to the school for that rundown stadium to occupy.
this situation will not be resolved within the next 10 yrs and may worsen signifigantly.
Internal support
I find it questionable at this point. The school president talks a good game but so obviously the results and sheer number of coaches turning down the job speak otherwise. New AD with no AD experience. Someone please tell my why UW scheduled LSU next yr?
Fan support
About as bad right now as it could get. We know what it used to be but the fans are still pining for the days of Don James and creating mythical national championships in his absence. This improves with winning but still a loooooooong way from the 90's.
Recruiting
Washington turns out on average 8-12 D1 prospects per year. Usually UW gets 70% with the rest going to WSU, UO, OSU or an outlier like USC, Mich. etc. Don James existed in a pre 85 scholly era. He stockpiled local talent and picked off LA talent. That LA connection has been shut down for a LONG time and I don't think it opens up with Carrol and Nueheisal getting the lions share and Tedford, Belloti/Kelly getting the scraps.
So to sum it up I don't see this as a top 5 job let alone top 3.

Norm Chow is said to have the personality of a cardboard box. Otherwise he'd likely turn out to be a very good HC.
Sarkisian and Kiffin both need to go back into the over for another couple of hours. If not blood rare, they are both still too raw on the inside. But who knows? Maybe one of them has a talent for surrounding himself with top notch assistants.
Recruited by Coach Rogers (redshirt year) and played for HC Cooper. I used to bring Pizza for Wayne Fontes. He was funny as hell as an OC. Still stay very close to the program obviously being a grad. I might add that both Cooper and Snyder were class acts. More than I can say for Daryl Rogers. What a joke.
