utep-15.... just cracked the top 25...qb palmer(carson`s brother) gets better by the week.....jackson is a solid back.....mike price vs fitz hill is a huge mismatch...

the funny thing is that san jose has literally kicked el paso`s ass the last 3 years....qb rislov had alot to do with that...and he`s gone...

you have an emerging club under price...incredible offensive balance at this level....

san jose is a program on the verge of being disbanded....ranked 117th in total defense...138th in scoring defense...

their qb has had basically one good game vs decent opposition....the rice game that was a total anomaly...the guy completed 10 passes for 358 yards and 5 t.d.`s....5 t.d.`s out of 10 completions!!!!!!....after they were behind by almost 30 points...they actually won this game....under some very strange circumstances...

his last 2 games i believe the guy threw for under 100 yards....san jose basically lives and dies with their running back thompson...their passing game ranks 125th in the ncaa....despite that huge game vs rice....

utep stops the run....especially at this level...

a bye next week for utep...revenge...just a much better club....balanced offense....qb mismatch..better coach....laying the wood on the road....i just don`t think the spartans can keep up with this hot miner offense...

it`s homecoming for san jose...but that doesn`t mean much when you don`t draw much over 5000 people for home games...

i believe being ranked should be a huge goose for the miners...


oregon-19.....oregon is beginning to play like they were expected to in pre-season....again,balanced offense.....at home.....vs a downright horrible offense....a ridiculously bad passing game...

washington hammered oregon last year by around 28......revenge on tap here....

the only rub for me is that oregon has cal on deck....which makes this a lesser play foe me than utep....

Love the UTEP play.Good write-up. I stumbled upon this play last night, and I'm gonna pound it this week. They are in a much higher class than this struggling SJST team.

UTEP should cover...just in following the WAC closely the last couple of years, San Jose St. seems to play descent at home (don't know why, they don't get a whole lot of fans)...GL

that utep line is worrying me i little. just seems like a goof. utep should roll sjsu right? utep should be a >24 pt favor here. the only thing i can think of is that they put up like 70 pts at home vs rice. smu rolled sjsu for crying out loud. this spread is a joke. i'm probably overthinking this. does anyone have one reason not to bet on utep?

UTEP SHOULD ROLL...

Offensively they are getting better and their defense can defend against teams on their level. There is also a huge difference in defense and scoring defenses of these two teams. Big edges to Miners. As for why this is not a larger spread in SJSU, c'mon, UTEP is no USC, but the 2TD's they way they have been playing of late is a bargain. Also the fact that this is not a late night game is a plus for UTEP as well.

Of note, how did HC Price reward his players for the big win at LaTech, he ran them until their tongues dropped for numerous missed assignments in the game. He then topped it off with an Ice Cream buffet at the practice facility after they finished the conditioning drills. SJSU or no, they will be hitting this week in practice.

This is a big deal in ElPaso as they will be televising the game vs SJSU back in ElPaso and the Miners are NEVER on TV so they are pumped about it. They also remember that SJSU dropped 69 on them when they played last and the Miners want to do the same to them. This is the second season for the Miner, each month to them is a season and they have a chance to go 4-0 for this season if they can win on Saturday.

WinOne-that's what i thought too. i've always been a fan of the Miners and to a lesser extent Mike Price. what ever became of omar duerte? that guy was a pretty good qb, i guess Jordan Palmer's just that good. i agree, utep should role. this is my POW. GO UTEP

Kind of like the UTEP play, but on the other side of Oregon. Think that is way too many points for this conference game. I know Wash is terrible this year, BUT they have great historical trends in their favor in this one as they've dominated the series in recent years. Oregon "should" win the game outright and get all of their revenge, but covering that big number...I don't think so. Also, having CAL on deck isn't good either for them. I think Wash comes out and shows some respect for themselves for the pitiful offensive performance they had vs. USC. They should put points on the board here as Oregon's "D" is definetly not SC's. GL!!

Speaking from very little knowledge of UTEP, but I didn't think Gary Nord(?) left UTEP without any talent. I thought I read at one time that this was supposed to be thier breakout year anyway? Didn't he say something about a five year plan or one of those things, I know he guranteed some victory's or something. Anybody know more either way?

No matter, for mike price to get them to this level in his first year is a very good job. I don't see why they would stumble here.

No problem on the info. Just passing it along. As for Omar Duarte, he's still there and gets time but Palmer has the stronger more accurate arm and allows them to stretch the field. Also Palmer has grasped the offense better. I believe they are just playing the hot hand at this point.
That ice cream thing cracked me up, I just about fell out of my chair when I was told that. I think it is a great story and I hope they continue it. I do know they want this one bad and know that they will have to take it. I have learned a lot about HC Price and his coaching philosophy. Price or someone from his staff contacts the parents of players weekly giving updates on the kids on the field and in class. I think that is top notch.
