Perfect weather here in Mississippi....I'm one hour from Hattiesburg and my son plays for USM.
Their starting QB got in trouble during fall camp and is suspended indefinitely for some female assault charge two years ago.
Their other QB transferred out during the offseason as he was most likely going to land at #3 on the depth chart.
The now starter I watched play in Mississippi JUCO and was an excellent QB at Northwest Mississippi....lighting up my son's team with 4 passing TD's.
In 11 games at NW Mississippi JUCO he threw for 3000 yards and 23 TD's.
Southern Miss is loaded with standout WR's which will make this team dangerous against anyone.
They put up 50+ last week in his first game against Jackson St. in which he went 22 for 27 w 4 passing TDs with almost 80% completion percentage. Now JST is not great, but the kid has moxy, a huge arm, is very accurate, not to mention the conditions were wet. He also spent time at LaTech before he transferred to JUCO.
I'm not sure why the line is diving but I am putting a chunk on USM -5 and the over 67.
He's an unproven QB but he is playing at a high level in practice and in JUCO he was pinpoint accurate, very important for this USM spread offense.
