Southern California quarterback Max Wittek visited Texas over the weekend and has been in contact with several other schools as he considers where to transfer. Wittek is on target to graduate in May so he will be eligible to play next season, and have two years left. He reportedly has talked with Louisville, Virginia Tech, TCU and Hawaii. He claims he is in no rush to make a decision.

I know little about Wittek other than watching him play one game. Is the kid any good? Guess Texas and a few other schools think so.

From the Austin paper it sounded like the odds of him coming to Texas were very slim.

sdf, you would know better than I but it looks like Texas has only three scholarship quarterbacks. Senior David Ash, sophomore Tyrone Swoops and freshman Jerrod Heard. Sophomore Trey Holtz (Lou's grandson I believe) and senior Cody Boswell are listed on the roster but are non-scholarship players. It's being reported that Bram Kohlhausen, formerly of Houston and LA Harbor Community College will walk on with no scholarship. I would think the Horns would like to have at least four quarterbacks on scholarship.

Can you update us on Texas' quarterback situation? :103631605

Maybe the Horns could make a move on Oklahoma's Blake Bell...he's being moved to tightend. Soumi

The problem is Blake Bell has no shot in the NFL at the QB posiiton. And everybody pretty much knows it. I think tight end is more his natural position. He had a hell of a season as a sophomore in HS at the WR position. And his dad played TE in the NFL for 6 years. Stoops is giving him this chance in his senior season to possibly make himself draft eligible. And Bell said he's willing to do anything it takes to help his team.

Texas has 3 QBs and Ash is the starter but has to be thought of as fragile. Any hits to the head may end it career. Swoopes has some good skills but was treated with kid gloves last year and still needs work. Heard is the next big thing but no experience. Wittek apparently had a great visit to UT, exceeding his expectations, but no word where he'll land. He would be a good #2 and possibly a #1 for one year while they redshirt Heard.

Hard to know what to expect and what Strong will do. Ash is the man for now but he's really not THE man needed to turn around the program so......lots of questions here.

Jerrod Heard isn't even on campus yet. Right now we have 2 scholarship QB's on campus (Ash and Swoopes). UT is moving Myles Ongebulie (sp)? to QB so they can simply have some depth and more throws to the WR's.

Wittek would be a huge get. It's looking really good for UT with him.
