You're right. This system is a joke. What else is a shame is that Bowling Green's athletic director used to work in the ticket office for OU. And his cancelling the Auburn game to play Oklahoma has caused them to miss out of the championship game. If I was Aburn, I'd sue him.Mr Teaser said:Same boat LSU was in last year. The system in place is a total joke. Watching the Cal/SMiss game I was thinking as was the coaching staff for Cal what the "magic #" was for them to win by. Aren't you just supposed to win? I guess not..look at Auburn.
I guess since Auburn didn't beat Tenn, they are not that good? If you saw my thread last week, you'd known that this is the first time since 1996 that Tennessee has outright lost a game as a double digit dog. The only reason Tenn lost to Notre Dame was ND had their game of the year, and Tenn was shellshocked after losing their second starting QB.ProphetablePicks said:Auburn would destroy USC?????? I completely disagree and not because I am a pac ten guy. Auburn did not look that great against Ten to me and I believe USC beats Auburn, if anything the game is close and not a blowout. Why, because USC did not beat UCLA by 30 they all of a sudden have lost a step??. USC beats OKlahoma and there are no questions trust me on that!!. Auburn is good but lets not go crazy here. To be honest I would not be surprised at all to see them lose to V.Tech. Just wanted to put my opinion out there but once again USC/Auburn would be a very good game as well.
good luck guys.
It seems like the vast majority of times the SEC champion makes it to the title game, they win it. Can you argue with that?WC Bias said:Dan, do you really think Auburn beating Bowling Green would have been enough to get them over OK or USC? Remember, they started ranked much lower than these teams and had to work their way up to their current position. Auburn did all they could to crack that bubble, but USC and Oklahoma were pretty well insulated. In other words, if OK beat citadel and Auburn beat BG, do you really think it would have made a difference in the end? Maybe so.
As for this being a losing situation for USC...only to you and others in the south. They are ranked #1 because 40 some-odd college coaches and sports writers, and probably the same percentage of college football fans, think they are the best team in the country. I know you think these people don't know college football.
USC could care less who they play, and if they beat Oklahoma, there will be a very small majority that will still say Auburn would beat USC. I'm not saying you are wrong to think that, but I guarantee USC and the vast majority of people could care less. This is much different than last year because USC was #1 in both polls before the BCS game...so the comparison would be if Auburn was #1 in both polls, and still wasn't playing in the Orange Bowl.
As for a USC loss, that just might happen. They are a very young team. A loss is nowhere near the end of this USC run. Of the five teams that are unbeaten, only USC returns the vast majority of their team and all key skill players. They will be pre-season #1 next year no matter the outcome.
I'm surprised that USC is favored right now, I thought for sure it would be a pick-em. Oklahoma looks like they have got their **** together. But there is nearly a month downtime, so this game will be played with a clean slate.
Auburn is getting screwed, no doubt. They won the SEC. Part of it is the fact they are Auburn. Had LSU or Georgia won out, they would be playing in the Orange Bowl, probably ahead of USC.
I will forever say that Oregon State was the best team in the Country in 2000 and because they are lowly Oregon State, they were never going to get the chance to play for the NC over Florida State or Miami, the two other one-loss teams. In the end OSU destroyed ND in the fiesta bowl, and I would expect Auburn, if they are as good as you think they are, to do the same here against VT...because everyone knows the ACC is just the SEC's lil' *****...right?
He is not saying they would. It's what other people would say after the outcome of the Orange Bowl because they weren't given a shot. I do agree with what you said thoughProphetablePicks said:Auburn would destroy USC?????? I completely disagree and not because I am a pac ten guy. I don't care what ticket office Bowling Green's athletic director worked in. OU offered Bowling Green more money than Auburn. Bottom line, BG took the money. And Auburn took The Citidal. As for Auburn having the better team; I'm not sure how you arrived at that conclusion. My guess is you didn't watch that big SEC blowout over powerhouse Tennessee.:nono5:Dan Tanna said:You're right. Also methinks Oklahoma is the goat in this situation. They kept the two best teams from playing last year, and looks like they will keep the two best teams from playing again this year. Can someone tell me which BCS power broker the Oklahoma AD is blowing?
