According to the Al Qaeda letter sent to Al Quds in London claiming responsibility for the Spanish bombings a huge operation targeting the USA is 90 percent ready. IT was stated, "Operation Winds of Black Death is in its final preparation."

I am very glad I don't have children.

There was a moderately longer article mentioning this Winds of Death plan on CNN. Apparently it comes from the same source taking credit for this morning's bombings, so I would imagine we'll have to wait for confirmation of today's events to see if there's any credibility to this '90 percent ready' stuff.

I disagree entirely.

We've been butchering each other like idiots for thousands of years for all sorts of stupid dumb reasons.

Each year 40,000 yanks alone get killed in auto accidents,(and that's just deaths) a heck of a lot more than any terrorist incident.

Is there any hysteria?
Is the sky falling?

Of course not.

Its media driven drivel that pushes these things WAY out of proportion.

You just have to put some perspective on it, that's all.

Millions are hungry or riddled with disease in the world. Millions.
I don't see much hysteria over that tho.

We rank amongst the luckiest and most pampered people in human history.
Appreciate it.

there's a lot of truth to what you say eek . . . just read an article in Harper's magazine that put the so-called terrorism threat into perspective. obviously it's horrible when someone dies a violent, senseless death at the hands of murderers - but countless diseases, auto accidents, and suicide are much bigger concerns. Speaking strictly in probabilistic terms, terrorism is a threat on the same order as workplace accidents and drownings but you don't see a "war on water safety" . . . that being said it was a terrible thing that happened today in spain and hopefully the killers are brought to justice.

I agree with eek. We have it really good yet for some reason we are no closer to being satisfied than we were when we had next to nothing. This is sufficient proof IMO that material comforts and ultra high levels of security are not the means to happiness.

I was at the maternity ward today and a woman was complaining that she had to wake her sleeping baby for a semi-forced breastfeeding because they are taking him away for the night and she doesn't want her newborn child to get another woman's milk. I said to her "yup, he's getting an early lesson on what fate has in store for humans -- making compromises for the sake of the system". It made me think that most other species on this planet may actually have it better than us, despite their material and security disadvantages.

While eek is definitely right, we do have it very good in america that doesn't mean we should get upset about the fact that al-qaeda is out of control and a major threat to those of us living in major cities. Of course anyone that alters their life based on these threats is a moron because the odds of you getting killed by al qaeda is extremely remote. However, we do need to do all we can to prevent another 9-11 or even what happened in spain.

I can't wait to hear from the liberals who will then rationalize what al qaeda did and blame it on america being too capitilistic or blame it on israel for wanting to remain a nation.

Try looking for a loved one in NY,Penn.NJ CT.RI. hospitals when they are really buried under 80 stories of building because some muslim thinks he'll get 72 virgins for doing that for Allah.

Why can't generalizations be made? If someone notices something about a certain people why are they labeled a racist for pointing it out? No one says that all muslims are terrorists, just that most terrorist attacks are by muslims. Thats an observation. If it happens to offend some pompous europeans, so be it. The fact is that if ANY muslim leaders would denounce these terrorist attacks i think muslims would get a better rap.

As for the other generalizations you posted i think some are also based on real lige observations. Personally, i am jewish and jews tend to be tight with money and enjoy saving money. I dont take offesne to people making that observation. As long as they don't say that EVERY jew is cheap or EVERY muslim is a terrorist.

primetime: I do agree with you. I really hate political corectness, why do we have to worry about not offending one another all the time. But regarding the comment i responded about leaking some poison in mecca that would be labelling all muslims terrorists and that is wrong - although most 'terrorist' attacks are initiated by muslims.
