I HAVE TO PASS A URINE TEST FOR MY JOB... SO I AGREE 100%

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ASS, doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all will pass it along, though . . . Something has to change in this country -- and soon
!!!!!!!

This is probably why Obama didn't get a job, he wouldn't be able to pass a urine test for these law firms..

The great community worker...

And you are 100% correct...no problem helping people who need or are even trying to get off drugs......but enough is enough......

Under Barry Obama, this will be the biggest welfare druggie system ever seen.

Yes funny huh? Welfare recipients get free money with no proof they are not using it to buy drugs. On the contrary, you won't get drug tested at work unless you screwed up. So don't screw up and you have nothing to worry about.

He SHOULD have a problem with taking the urine test.

You do realize that administering these urine tests costs money. Quite a bit of money. You want to pay MORE taxes for all these people to get urine tests all the time? I sure as fuck don't. How about saving tax dollars and eliminating them altogether?

D2bets is being argumentative just for the sake of being
argumentative.

Reeler making the point that it's bullshit that he has to take
drug tests in order to work to get a paycheck, but those who
suck off his paycheck in the form of public assistance, don't have
to take that same test.

Tax dollars? How about not having welfare? That will save tax dollars!

I'm not being argumentative. I am stating that government workers should be judged on their work performance not their urine. Justifying a waste of taxpayer funds with a bigger waste of taxpayer funds is not a good argument.

The government should be downsized anyways. So if you were in the corporate world, you wouldn't be in this dilemma. Furthermore, government workers (even the sharpest that I have met) enjoy the cush job and how lazy they can be. In the real world there is something called "The market" which drives how much work we have to do. I am not here to knock government workers... just saying the basic solution to both these cases is for the government to minimal Police, Fire, Rescue, and Military.

There are two groups of Americans within this discussion.

1) Those who will unzip their pants on command and allow strangers to inspect their urine without reasonable cause (medical neccessity etc).

2) Those of us who refuse to permit such invasive and degrading intrusions into our personal lives.

Fortunately, in the year 2008, the latter group outnumber the former group by almost three to one.

If you happen to be in the former group, I invite you to get whatever counseling you may need to help you regain your self-respect so that you're not feeling it neccesary to allow other people to poke and probe into your body without reasonable cause.

Good news is that the number of employers who waste money on degrading their employees by urine testing without cause is continuing to shrink. Less than 40% of private employers urine test without cause and it is illegal for government employers to urine test except in a very narrow range of job descriptions.

Returning to the ficticious author of the ficticious anecdotal letter in Post #1, he should be less worried about what other people are doing with their own private urine than he should be worried about how much he degrades himself by working for an employer who treats him like a criminal without cause.

Glad some folks stand on principle still, but for me the EEKonomics were such (the one time I was asked to do a pre-employment screen) that I had the opportunity to double my then meager salary (30 to 60k)

....I said "not only will I pee for you, I'll shit, spit, and bleed for ya"

Eeekonomics rule the day for many my bongmeistering friend.

Reeler aptly notes that it's bullshit he is required to give his employer urine samples without reasonable cause.

That doesn't translate into making MORE people give up urine without reasonable cause.

Rather, it indicates the need for Reeler and others to either change professions to one that does not degrade them so harshly and/or to lobby their current employers to desist with participation in such a degrading and counterproductive policy.

Counterproductive since there is absolutely no evidence that urine-testing without reasonable cause does anything to reduce either the consumption of illicit drugs nor to decrease the amount of accidents in the workplace which contribute to damage and/or physical harm.

Or as a colleague of mine wryly notes, "Just because your employer is taking a moral shit on your head doesn't mean you're doing anyone any good by promoting that more people allow themselves to be shit upon".

It's not nonsensical that one might be willing to sell their urine for the right price. We can reasonably deduce that for the moment, your sample is worth about $30K.
