A set of never-before-seen photos of the Kennedy family, which features images of former President John F. Kennedy, his wife Jacqueline and their two children, will be put up for auction this week. The 79 candid images were previously owned by the family’s nanny Maud Shaw, who watched the couple's children Caroline and John F. Kennedy Jr. for seven years, much of which was spent in the White House. The pictures, along with a custom-made maternity dress the First Lady wore while pregnant with John in 1960, are being sold as one lot by Nate D. Sanders Auctions on Thursday, June 25, and offer a rare and unique glimpse into the private lives of the former first family. In one photo, Jackie can be seen wearing a white dress with light blue and purple dots while sitting on a manicured green lawn with her daughter, who is posed next to an Easter basket.

The fashion icon, whose personal style is still revered after her death in 1994, is facing Caroline and looking over her shoulder as she smiles as the camera. Another picture shows the active mother-of-two leading a pony, which Caroline is riding. It is unclear whether or not the pony was Caroline's pet Macaroni, which was a gift from Lyndon B. Johnson. Jackie became an equestrian at an early age and horse-riding remained a lifelong passion, which she passed along to her daughter. Other snaps include family moments at the beach, a casually dressed JFK, Caroline and John playing, as well as snapshots of Maud with the children. The family frequently vacationed at the Kennedy Compound, a waterfront property on Cape Cod along the Nantucket Sound in Hyannis Port. JFK's parents Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. his wife Rose raised him and his brothers, Bobby and Ted, in the main home. In 1956, JFK bought a smaller property not far from his childhood home, while his brother Ted acquired the third home, which was adjacent to the other two, in 1959.

The rare pictures are a part of the former nanny's personal collection of Kennedy moments. Maud was began working for Kennedys after the birth of Caroline in 1957. She famously cared for Caroline and John after the assassination of their father on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. Among the pictures in the lot is an image of a funeral procession, presumed to be JFK's, as well as a photo of his original gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery in 1963. Two years after JFK's death, Maud, who had never married, retired from her position and moved to her family home of London. Shortly after her retirement, Jackie visited her former employee in London, where she gave her the cream patterned dress that is now up for auction. The sleeveless, empire waist dress, which features a zippered rear closure and measures 18' across the chest, is lightly worn and was originally sold at Whyte's auctions in Dublin, Ireland. Whyte’s said the dress had 'no label indicating size or maker’s name' but was of 'fantastically high quality'.

While the origin of the dress is unknown, Jackie hired fashion designer Oleg Cassini in 1960 to create an original wardrobe for her as First Lady. In her 1966 memoir, White House Nanny: My Years with Caroline and John Kennedy Jr., Maud wrote about receiving Jackie's maternity dress, and a signed copy of her book is also featured in the lot. Maud dated the book '18 August 1967' and wrote: 'To Rose / With happy memories of our long friendship / My very best wishes for you [illegible],' before adding her signature. When Maud died in 1988, her keepsakes from her years spent with the Kennedys were inherited by her relatives and sold off. Bidding for the 79 photos, dress and autographed book start at 10,000. The candid family photos are the latest in a long line of JFK images and memorabilia to go under the hammer.

Never-before-seen photos of JFK and Jackie vacationing with friends in Cape Cod went up for auction in Boston in Feburary and were sold for $32,500. And in October last year, a set of 13 wedding negatives from the Kennedys' spectacular wedding ceremony and celebration fetched $34,000 at auction. Five years after JFK's death, Jackie married the wealthy Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis in 1968. In 1975, she became a widow for the second time after Aristotle died of respiratory failure. Caroline and John grew up in New York City, away from their cousins in Hyannis Port. Caroline attended Radcliffe College at Harvard University. After graduation, she accepted a job as research assistant, where she met her husband, exhibit designer Edwin Schlossberg. She later received her J.D. degree from Columbia Law School.

Six years after he graduated from Brown University, John received a J.D. degree from the New York University School of Law in 1989 and worked at Manhattan district attorney's office for the next four years. In 1994, Jackie was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and died in her sleep in May 1994. A year later, John and Michael J. Berman co-founded George, a monthly political lifestyle magazine. In 1996, he married Carolyn Bessette in a secret ceremony. Caroline, who has three children, Rose, Tatiana, and John, is the only living member of her immediate family. Her brother, along with his wife and her elder sister Lauren, died in 1999 after the small plane he was piloting crashed while they were on their way to a family wedding on Martha's Vineyard.
