Also Utah State's QB left, this is UNLV's first opponent:

• AGGIES LOSE QB -- Utah State, UNLV's Aug. 30 opening opponent, lost its potential starting quarterback.
Jase McCormick, who was going to compete for the job, left the team. Now the job is down to Sean Setzer or Diondre Borel, though incoming freshman Exavier Johnson could be considered, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.
"Jase has had some major life changes, his focus is different and he's not going to play football anymore," Utah State coach Brent Guy said in a statement.
"He's just going to stress his academics and graduate in December. We respect his decision, we know its been a difficult one for him and one that he has thought a great deal about."

Was UNLV Coach Sanford on Urban Meyer's Utah staff? What kind of offense does UNLV run? Spread Option? Thanks for the info.

Yes he was, and they run the same offense as Meyer did at Utah. Just not very well.

Hey guys, I've posted this in another thread, but this thread is perfect for it. Sanford @ UNLV is 1-7 ATS (.125) vs the WAC in the first month of the season. I've already played USU +12' for one unit over a week ago. GL

I think this could be a good move on UNLV's part. Apparently they think it is not going to hurt the QB position to move Dixon, but it could improve the defensive side.

Really it's 0-8 if you use the lines that most people bet, since last year's Utah State game opened at 9 or 10 and finally closed at 6.5.

However, the season opener at home is a different deal, and I'll be on UNLV in this one.

how is it that Sanford still has a job at this point?...

If he don't improve and loses to UNR, he will be gone after this season. Local fans wanted him out last year. We shall see, because most of the money is going to the basketball team, and not sure if any other coach really wants the job. With this qb switch, I see it more of down grade, because dixon played well last year, but made a lot of freshman mistakes. Team has a lot of good talent, but think the leadership is the problem.

hana,

I think he should have been gone two years ago, but oh well...took them one time in a great situational spot vs. Utah last year, but I'm going to have a very hard time backing them at all this year...he's just not a good coach...

Pretty much agree with you. UNLV is a very difficult place to win at and, ironically, to recruit at as well.

Have a feeling Sanford will be gone if he has another year like last.
