More people in academia coming to the conclusion that we are destroying the Earth. I think it's awesome what they are doing... and they are not just talking the talk, they are divesting from Earth destroying industries and investing in alternative energies.

Although I should be against this considering I work in the biggest Earth destroying industry on the planet.

And yet the rest of the sane world understands more than the scare tactics.

The scandal of fiddled global warming data

The US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record

A scene from 'The Day After Tomorrow': in reality, officially approved scientists fudge the data

When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data. There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data. In several posts headed “Data tampering at USHCN/GISS”, Goddard compares the currently published temperature graphs with those based only on temperatures measured at the time. These show that the US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record; whereas the latest graph, nearly half of it based on “fabricated” data, shows it to have been warming at a rate equivalent to more than 3 degrees centigrade per century.

When I first began examining the global-warming scare, I found nothing more puzzling than the way officially approved scientists kept on being shown to have finagled their data, as in that ludicrous “hockey stick” graph, pretending to prove that the world had suddenly become much hotter than at any time in 1,000 years. Any theory needing to rely so consistently on fudging the evidence, I concluded, must be looked on not as science at all, but as simply a rather alarming case study in the aberrations of group psychology.

Now don't get me wrong, I believe in green energy, just like many right wing "global warming is bullshit" people...just for different reasons than the leftist Al Gore said so sheep that litter this forum as well as the rest of our country.

Really, bottom line, how can green energy be bad for the world. Quieter, cleaner, safer, economic opportunities, new technology being developed....but the "to save the earth" mantra is just straight up bullshit.

Do I need to post some more pictures of Al Gore's homes? (Smallest one is 12,000 square feet). Or should I post pics of his private jets? Maybe I should post the fact that the CEO of Greenpeace flies 250 miles into work everyday.

Nah, who will listen..let's just say the world is doomed unless you buy into global warming.

Dumb fucks.

That's getting desperate. Just because they support green energy doesn't mean they are going to ride bicycles or canoes to travel across the world. I don't believe in the "doomed" portion of global warming. But to be so naive to believe that all the shit the world is putting in to the air does not have an effect on the Earth is ridiculous. The extent of man made global warming I haven't seen it. I mean even when you read the research on sea level rising it's like mm's at a time. Which scientists say is significant but I just can't comprehend that being a danger for another 1000 years or so.

I'm also not a climate expert nor a scientist so I don't claim to know how damaging global warming could be to the earth. That's why I listen to real scientists who actually study and understand this information and not blogs with agendas like you posted.

the fucking douche actually equates "going green" as meaning you believe in man made global warming

can anyone really be so ignorant on so many fronts? is he ever in the ballpark? how naive can one be?

going green is about a lot of things, from cleaner water to cleaner air to saving and recycling, it's not about man made global warming

it's more about preserving natural resources

we do have limited resources, especially with respect to modern day energy.

Going Green 101

Going green is often simply a matter of replacing old habits with new ones. Each time you make a conscious decision to conserve natural resources, you take another step toward green living. Many ideas for going green can be found at www.mygoinggreenideas.com. Here a just a few:

  • Turn Off Lights
    • Switch off lights as you leave a room, which saves energy and reduces your electricity bill
  • Set Your Thermostat
    • Set your thermostat above 78 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and below 60 in the winter. Wear less clothing in summer and more in winter. Open windows rather than running the air conditioner, if possible.
  • Conserve Water
    • Take shorter showers. Turn water off while brushing your teeth or shaving. Fix leaky faucets. Run your dishwasher and washing machine only when you have a full load.
  • Recycle
    • Recycle aluminum, cardboard, glass and plastic materials if possible. By doing so you reduce the amount of waste headed to landfills.
  • Reuse
    • Find ways to reuse things that can’t be recycled rather than throwing it away. Old clothing can be used as rags. Large containers can be turned into planters. Consider donating large items you no longer want or need.
  • Change Your Light Bulbs
    • Switch to compact fluorescent bulbs which last longer and use less energy.
  • Bring Your Own Grocery Bags
    • Reduce waste by bringing your own grocery bags to the store to use again. Purchase reusable cloth grocery bags to keep in your car for trips to the store.
  • Eat Greener
    • Support locally grown produce which reduces greenhouse emissions by reducing the demand for shipments of processed food products.
  • Carpool, Bike or Bus
    • Carpool with your co-workers or take your bike when weather permits. Familiarize yourself with your city’s public transportation and bus systems. You’ll cut your gas bill and reduce your car emissions.
  • Unplug
    • Even when appliances are turned off they continue to draw electricity. Unplug seldom-used appliances or plug related appliances into a power strip to turn off when finished using them. Unplug electronic chargers when not in use.

Lol, well if you watch the video it's apparent the guy is talking about the emissions we are putting in the air that is damaging the Earth and how especially impoverished areas are in danger. I guess if you are desperate you can try to act like that has nothing to do with global warming, but people don't call you Wrong Way Willie for no reason. And it was about investing in companies, not about the Universities themselves "going green". You obviously did not watch the video. No surprise here.

So refusing to practice what you preach alright by your standards? Nobody is saying they need to be on a bike, but when your carbon footprint is 100x bigger than 99% of the people in the world......is that not hypocritical in your eyes?

:pointer:

The air has never been cleaner, the water has never been cleaner, and life expectancy is rising.

All because the Earth is being "destroyed"

What an absolute dumb fuck you are.

Probably one of your better posts and closely mirrors my opinion on climate change.

"We are destroying the Earth"

I have been hearing this for more than 40 years.

Every single prediction regarding this has been spectacularly wrong.

Population bomb
Silent Spring (that woman killed several million people)
Predictions of mass famine
Global cooling
Ozone destroyed
DDT
Global warming

It has all been complete and utter bullshit. All of it, without exception. If you believe this stuff, you are stupid. There is no other way to say it.

Yes, every single person who believes this stuff is stupid, just as everyone here that disagrees with you is a "rank idiot". Curious, in your mind have you ever been wrong? I have yet to see you admit to being wrong here even though you have been proven wrong on multiples occasions.

Good tips above & also I turn my hot water heater down to no hotter than it needs to be..Why add cold water to make warm water & use more energy keeping it too hot?...I also do not own a clothes dryer, open air drying works just fine & saves me money...

If you believe in that stuff, you are stupid. The people who say it are counting on it.

I don't think "everyone" who disagrees with me is a rank idiot and never have said so.

Nice straw man.

Australian PM introduces bill to repeal carbon tax

Abbott said scrapping the tax would reduce household electricity bills by AU$200 a year and natural gas bills by AU$70 a year. Lower-income Australians who have been paid a share of the carbon tax revenue as welfare to compensate for higher prices would get to keep their compensation even after the tax is scrapped, he said.

"This is a bill to reduce the bills of the Australian people," Abbott said.

The bills are expected to be passed by the House of Representatives this week before going to the Senate next month.
