Youre right! The tarheels are the best team. Illini has one of the weakest schedules. Its actually a walk through besides the 3 games they play on the road. Whoppee. Let them come to the ACC and they would be in the likes of Wake Forest who plays well at home and squeeaes it out on the road. Illini is a heck of a team, but, on a neutral court theres no doubt in my mind or any analasyst mind on tv that would disagree! They may lose to Dukie just on the fact that coach k rules the refs but again will you illinis believe in UNC if they win by 20 at cameron?:monsters-

Wake Forest....everyone saw that butt kicking. Won at Wisconsin...nobody does that. Beat Michigan St soundly on the road. They have passed every test with flying colors. To say that two-loss UNC would beat them by 10 is crazy. Line would be PK, and it will play out like a PK game.
Illinois has passed every test. This does not change the fact that they are not as good as UNC. So UNC lost to Santa Claus without pt. man Felton (first game of year day before flying to Hawaii, christ, who would play well in that spot?) and at Wake where everyone would lose. The way the teams are playing now it is UNC by 10.

This entire discussion is evidence of why i pay little attention to the game day thoughts of people who are clearly fans rather than objective handicappers. Fans of teams or fans of conferences let their hearts get in the way of their objective handicapping. They bet their teams or their conferences at many opportunities...and even when they bet against their teams, their thoughts are often colored...because they are too influenced by their love for the team. (Even when fans go against their own teams they often seem to dislike their own teams or magnify various elements out of proportion to the reality). In 30 years of gambling and nearly 10 years reading internet boards like this, I've seen very few people who are fans who are able to be truly objective. Always amusing though to see fans compare the size of their bragodoccio......so thanks for that.

I love the Illini, and no other. But I can be very objective and my betting record on them proves that to myself. It works differenty for me. As a fan I am quick to admit when my team is overmatched and will lose. I am a fan of Gtown and made alot of money betting against them the last few years. Since I know there program well I feel i have a better understanding of predicting the outcomes on there game.

What was the UNC score last year when they played on a neutral court in the challenge? Just a thought! Im a ACC fan but I know a good team when I see one and illini is tough. Hope it would come down to those two but I think Illini will fold as usual and it wont be good! But as for the 10 points? I think UNC would win by 10 just because illini hasnt been tested but twice, once at home. Youll be on top for the rest of the REGULAR seaoson though. Congrats

Ok...Illinois would not be undefeated if they were in the ACC...but they are the best team in the country.

Illinois lost to UNC by 2 or 3 last year, and the court was hardly neutral, just like the St Louis crowd will not be exactly neutral. Illinois hasn't folded since the Lon Kruger coached 2000 team folded against Florida. They went to the Elite Eight and lost by 4 or 5 to Arizona in 2001. They lost to Kansas in the round of 16 by 4 in 2002. They ran into a Notre Dame team that couldn't miss in the 2nd round of 2003, while missing 5 layups. You could call that a semi-choke, but it was more just a freak thing, in my opinion. Last year, they didn't play their best game and got beat by a Duke team that was clearly better. I'm sorry bud, but blowing out Cincy and Gonzaga, and beating Wisconsin and Mich St on the road were very tough tests away from home. You have a case to say that UNC is better, just as I am justified in saying the Illini are better. Although the best team should never lose to Santa Clara, I don't care what excuse you say they have. But to say they are 10 points better just proves you're a homer. In my honest opinion, I think they are pretty damn equal, and will have one heckuva game if they play for the title. An ESPN instant classic type game.
