Good: The Bush administration is putting the greedy, stingy United Nations in its place.
Angered by U.N. bureaucrat Jan Egeland's sniping about "stingy" donors aiding the tsunami victims, President Bush said today, "I felt like the person who made that statement was very misguided and ill informed."
Presidential spokesman Trent Duffy noted: "We outmatch the contributions of other nations combined. We'll continue to do so."
Andrew Natsios, administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, pointed out that the Bush administration spent $24 billion last year on foreign aid for development and emergency relief, up from $10 billion in Bill Clinton's last year in office.
The insolent Egeland, a Norwegian, failed to say how much U.N. would give to the victims. Oh, that's right: U.N. is a parasitic organization that doesn't create any wealth, just confiscates it from others and squanders much of it. At least, then, Egeland, Kofi Annan and their fellow taxpayer-supported drones could forgo their lavish benefits and salaries and give the proceeds to the poor. Editor's note:
