So let me just say I am a big UGA fan, but this line at UGA -11 is very thin. Let me tell ya why in a nutshell......

First of all, UGA has played two top 15 programs this year, and were basically in both games (faded late in the BSU game). Last week, was a needed confidence booster with the blowout of cupcake Coastal Carolina. UGA is still young, and even though we have a really bad coach, we still have a lot of talent and a lot to play for this year. I am predicting a 8-4 season, which is respectable given the circumstances. The D has been a bright spot for UGA this year, especially the Run D. Ole Miss can't throw the ball and they run it very poor. During the BYU game, the Cougars out played the Rebs, but hindsight I think we see that both team struggle offensively. I then thought that Ole Miss had a good D. Well, not really. They gave up 300+ yards against a bad BYU Offense and then here comes Vandy that just gashed the Ole Miss D.

So enter UGA....a balanced team, that should be focused and rejuvenated after the brutal first two games. A UGA team that is balanced and has great young talent that is starting to shine. RB Crowell is becoming a force to be reckoned with. I predict he runs all over the Ole Miss D. Then we have Murray who is waiting to live up to the hype of last year. He and the WRs are gelling now. UGA should have no problem scoring. The key will be that I predict Ole Miss will try to run the ball, but that is the UGA strong suit on their D. I have no faith in the Ole Miss passing attack either. I have this game as being a 42-10 game....what am I missing? The only thing I can see is its UGA first road game.

Trying to take the homer glasses off, so I have no idea what I could be looking over. Just really surprised this line isn't around 17. I know UGA isn't world beaters, but they will be ready for this game. I am also hearing from family in Oxford that the town is really down on the team already, which is understandable. That lack of confidence will come back around to the players.

Oxford peps.....I would love your comments. Thanks.

If UGA can't cover 10 then Bobo and Richt should both be fired on the spot.

I left Oxford last year and now down in Jackson finishing up school at the Medical Center. I went to Nashville this weekend and I have never repeat NEVER seen a team unorganized as Ole Miss was this weekend. That includes all the years under Orgeron including the year we went 0-8 in SEC play. All I heard last week was how well practice was going and how much better everything looked going into the Vanderbilt game and then the game happened. I don't even know what to say about the game. I wasn't even mad, I was just embarrassed. Honestly, the line screams trap. Nutt knows that if he has another performance like last week his career is over, but can the players come back from the humility of being blown out by Vanderbilt. My book has the line sitting at 10 right now. I will take 10 for at least a unit but if I can get the number under there I might go larger than usual just like I did with LSU last week.

The AD and Nutt met Sunday morning and had a lengthy discussion about the direction of the football program and I expect lots of details to come out through the week about the entire situation so I will update on this thread the more information I get.

I would say the loser of this game guarantees their fate.....and both staffs are still very much in jeopardy.....Nutt has too many injuries however.....he can't score.....literally.

It's over for Nutt the fan base wants him out, the boosters want him out, the way the team played Saturday, they want him out. I will be on Georgia Saturday just trying to figure out how much. I want Georgia to win to not only win me some money but make it even easier to get rid of Nutt. I have lost all confidence in him.

I have already bet UGA -11 and -10. They will cover this game as Nutt is as bad as UGA's staff. I was expecting at least -13.5 to -14.5 in this game.

Crowell is a player and is rounding into shape after getting a couple games under his belt. And UGA is notorious for getting better as the year plays out.

Of course, this is UGA's first away game so they may need some chaperones to keep their guys out of jail. I mean my local was taking bets on the number of UGA football players to be arrested...line was 7.5 for anyone interested. But assuming they field their team, then the will route this Ole Miss team imo.

It's down to -9.5 I just placed a fairly large wager on Georgia. Wanted to go even larger, but something is telling me Ole Miss plays their best game this weekend.

Agree that UGA should cover this one easily.....however, it is a tough spot for Nutt and Ole Miss. It's down to 9.5, which is a surprise (as it seems "the public" would be all over UGA).

If UGA loses this straight up...Richt won't make it the entire season (at a minimum it would be a "resign at the end of the season" situation)....But I don't see that happening this week.

at least the Falcons won. That call against Abraham was horrible.

Just barely...This is a grind it uot kind of team, they will keep you on the edge of your seat for sure. Coons gonna give us gray hairs this year. Refs seem to be missing more calls early in the season this year.

Injuries, NCAA ineligibility jeopardize Georgia’s O-line for Ole Miss

9:10 pm September 21, 2011, by Chip Towers
ATHENS – Georgia’s situation on the offensive line turned suddenly precarious on Wednesday. Starting right guard Chris Burnette went down in practice with a knee injury and head coach Mark Richt revealed afterward that offensive lineman Kolton Houston is currently ineligible with an “NCAA issue.” Burnette fell out with a knee injury during individual work early in practice. Richt initially characterized the injury as “a tweak,” but the nature and extent will not be known until Thursday.
“Right this second we don’t think it’s anything serious,” Richt said. “We’ll see if it swells and see how he does tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn’t swell a lot.”
Richt said it was the same knee in Burnette injured last season that forced him to sit out as a redshirt. That was a patella injury.
Compounding the seriousness of the situation is former starting left guard Kenarious Gates just returned to practice Tuesday from an injured ankle that has kept him sidelined since the first half of the first game of the season. Sophomore Dallas Lee has been starting at left guard ever since.
“Gates did finish out the practice,” Richt said hopefully. “That helps. Between those guys hopefully we’ll have one of them ready, if not both.”
But what if neither is available?
“Don’t ask me that me that question,” Richt said with a feigned laugh. “I don’t know what would happen.”
Most likely, he allowed, the Bulldogs would slide over senior center Ben Jones to right guard and start David Andrews at center. Andrews, a true freshman from Norcross, got his first action last week against Coastal Carolina.
Meanwhile, Jones watched the first half of Wednesday’s practice in street clothes “because something he ate didn’t agree with him,” according to Richt. But Jones felt better later, went back inside and suited up and “toughed out” the second half of practice.
As for Houston, Wednesday was the first time it was revealed that he was sidelined for any reason other than “coach’s decision.” The 6-5, 291-poundredshirt freshman from Buford was competing for playing time at both guard and tackle in preseason camp but has not played in the Bulldogs’ first three games.
“It’s an NCAA issue,” Richt said. “It’s just an individual case that we’re not going to get into details about. It’s NCAA related. We think it’s going to cleared up. We just don’t know when.”
Numerous open records requests for documents regarding NCAA investigations filed by the AJC over the last few months have not uncovered any information stating that Houston’s eligibility was in question.
Georgia Athletics Director Greg McGarity declined comment Wednesday night, saying the matter was protected by federal student privacy laws.
Mitchell becomes main target
With Marlon Brown expected to be sidelined for a second straight week with an ankle injury, freshman Malcolm Mitchell is slated to get his third start in four games at split end. But the 6-foot-1, 184-pound speedster from Valdosta would likely be playing extensively anyway.
“Since camp started he’s shown his ability to make plays,” offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said. “We knew he was a guy we were going to try to get the ball to.”
Mitchell is the Bulldogs’ leading receiver with 14 catches for 159 yards and has two touchdowns. And it’s not all just natural ability.
“He’s worked extremely hard at perfecting his craft,” Bobo said. “He’s a competitor. He’s not scared; he doesn’t flinch. We saw that early on when we put him in competitive situations in practice and he’s been the same way in games. I think he’ll only get better and be a big-play receiver for us.”
One time, at kicking camp
Saturday’s camp will reunite two of the best high school kickers in the land. Georgia’s Blair Walsh attended the prestigious Chris Sailers Camp in South California in 2007-08. along with Ole Miss junior Bryson Rose.
“Yeah, I know him,” Walsh said. “I haven’t really kept up with him since he went to Ole Miss but I’m glad he’s getting an opportunity to kick there.”
Rose, who is from Raleigh, was rated in 12th by Sailers in 2007.. He was redshirted his first year at Ole Miss and didn’t take over as the Rebels’ starting kicker until last season. Walsh, who was at one time ranked No. 1 bySailers, has started all four years at Georgia and is threatening the school’s all-time scoring record.
Etc. . . .
Starting free safety remained in a non-contact jersey Wednesday due to a strained neck. Richt expects him to play Saturday, however. . . . Offensive lineman Austin Long returned to practice this week from an eye infection that sidelined him last week. . . . Georgia practiced for two hours Wednesday on the Field Turf, the same surface it will play on Saturday atVaught -Hemingway Stadium. . . . Legendary Georgia coach Vince Dooley will be the special guest at a Georgia-Ole Miss viewing party at TheBuckhead Theatre on Peachtree Street Saturday at 11 a.m. He will sign copies of his book before and after the game and will conduct a Q&A with the audience at halftime.
