Doesn't seem to be any discussion in the UFC forum so I thought I would try here. Anyone interested? Thoughts?

Personally, I LOVE Ed herman at -135 to -140 to beat Scott Smith. Smith, IMO, is garbage. He is a puncher so he will always have that puncher's chance but he has little ground game. Patrick Cote handled him pretty easily in a unanimous decision and Travis Lutter wiped the mat with him in TUF 4. Both guys have good ground games, as does Herman. Herman has been in with much better competition, although losing to both Kendall Grove in a close match, and getting choked out by Jason McDonald. Smith is getting a lot of run on a lucky punch he landed on Pete Sell in the TUF Finale. I think Herman handles him pretty easily.

I agree with you Smith doesn't seem as well rounded to me. Herman is skilled enough to out class this guy. From what I remember seeing on TV. Herman should be the play here. It's either Herman or a Pass.

Agree with that, lackluster card on paper. Maybe they're good, competitive fights though. I'd like to see Herman fight, but that's about it.

For one thing, what time does this shit go off on the West Coast.....something like 9am? On top of it the card isn't that exciting. I'm gonna look into Herman and perhaps take you up on your advice. GL to all.

Noon on the west coast. I agree that it isn't a great card. Forrest Griffin's fights are always entertaining so there is a shot he will end up brawling. I'm not getting this one and typically do.

Hatrick, I think Franklin wins, will explain in a bit.

True ,overall its not the greatest card. However they're pumping these events out , what like every 3-4 weeks now. Its great, and sometimes shit cards like this provide the best action. Just cause there are alot of no names on the card , doesnt mean there won't be no action.

very true, I haven't watched it yet, but I understand teh fight night they had on Spike on Tuesday was action packed and all the fights were no names.

Re Franklin - I think he is too strong for Okami. I have only seen Okami fight once, against Swick, but I wasn't all that impressed. Franklin needs this fight to get another shot at Silva. IMO, Franklin is just too damn big, strong and good and more well rounded. Plus, from what I have read, Okami doesn't like it when the other guy pushes the action and Franklin is very aggressive.

Welcome anyone else's thoughts on the two fights, or any of the others.

Herman is now up to -165 on 5dimes, have a nice +145/-135 scalp on this fight now. Franklin also an even scalp for me at -170/+170. This is actually good news as the last 10 or 11 scalps I have had between these books have gone 10-1 in favor of Herman and Franklin side of the two scalps.

Hope you guys got down on Ed Herman

Scott Smith vs. Ed Herman (Pictures)
Round 1
Herman immediately takes Smith to the canvas with a takedown. Herman works Smith's body with punches from guard. Smith fights back to his feet. Herman lands some knees to the body and face from the Thai clinch before slamming Smith back to the ground. Herman cuts Smith with an elbow. He is bleeding terribly on the bridge of his nose. The fight is halted to allow a doctor to check the damage. The fight is allowed to continue. Restarted back on the ground, Smith reverses and drops back for a leg submission. Herman has none of it and hops on his back before the horn sounds to end the round. Sherdog.com scores the round 10-9 for Ed Herman.

Round 2
Herman shoots in but Smith sprawls and locks up a guillotine. Herman tackles him and escapes the hold. Herman goes right back to work with his elbows. The cut on Smith's nose is wide open and pouring again. Smith gives up his back and Herman quickly forces a tap with a rear naked choke. The official time is 2:25.

Jason MacDonald (Pictures) vs. Rory Singer (Pictures)
Round 1
MacDonald clinches with Singer and pushes him against the fence. Both fighters trade foot stomps. Singer gets some separation and lands a punch as well as a jumping knee. Singer throws an upkick that forces MacDonald to retreat. Singer takes MacDonald down and jumps quickly to mount. MacDonald is bleeding. MacDonald reverses the position and starts to work from Singer's guard. Singer locks in a tight triangle but he runs out of time. First frame is all Rory Singer, 10-9.

Round 2
MacDonald scores a takedown to start the second round. MacDonald uses a can opener to get Rory to open his guard. MacDonald mounts and blasts away with punches and elbows until referee Yves Lavigne stops the contest. Rory is upset but the stoppage was justified.
