I watched a little of the Tyson/Douglas fight from 1990 last night and it said Tyson was 42-1 to win......were those the right odds? What did a Buster ticket pay?

He was a 42-1 favorite to win. So Tyson would -4200. I don't now what the odds on Buster would be with odds that high. maybe +4100??

the come back on douglas was somewhere in the low + 20's and it was only posted at the mirage hotel. the money came in on tyson as the opening odds were at minus 30 or 35.

Hilo Boy, you seem to have a good knowledge of boxing from teh post I've seen. Were you affiliated (participated, followed closely or made lines) with the sport at one time?

When Jimmy Vacarro was at The Mirage he said somebody bet $72,000 to win $2,000 on Tyson. After moving the line to 42-1, a bettor put down $1500 on Douglas. I forget what the + money was.

theoretical hold on -110/-110 is 4.55%

with a -4200 fave, you get that same hold with a dog price of +1310 :scared2:

usually betting these big MLs is a "low-vig" proposition

If the dog was 30-1 in this case, that is a theoretical hold of less than 1%

I could tell that you had some experience with the insight you give Hilo. Ever want to get back in the game?

I would love to but when you are in you can't wait to get out. A total love hate. When I was young dealing with guys like Mitch Green was ok but now I doubt I could handle it.
