BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Two U.S. soldiers were killed by small arms fire at a checkpoint in Baghdad, the U.S. command said Monday.
The soldiers, who were not identified, were killed Sunday at a traffic control point jointly manned by Iraqi security forces, the military said in a statement. No further details were made available.
As of Friday, 1,055 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to the Defense Department.
