New to the forum but long time handicapper. My two plays for day are as follows:
New England +3 over Miami
Both teams are less than impressive offensively which lends itself to taking the points. However, while NE is basically out of the playoff picture, it's still a Belichick team with pride and a winning pedigree that's coming off an embarrassing game against the Rams in which it was dominated in all aspects. Miami is coming off an emotional loss to KC and needs to keep winning to maintain the 7th and last playoff spot with Baltimore right on its heels. I like the combination of NE getting pasted in its last game with Miami having a hangover from KC and the pressure to keep winning. I think it's asking too much of the young Miami QB Tagovailoa to handle. NE gets it done and is worth a bet on the money line.
Jets +17 over Rams
Simply put, this is too many points to give in this situation. Jets were throttled by Seattle last week but you could see that coming. Seahawks looked lackluster in the two prior games against Philly and the loss at home against the Giants. Jets coming off the last second horrible loss to the Raiders and having to travel to the west coast was the perfect storm for a blowout loss. The Rams are coming off two big wins at Arizona and home against New England. This is a sandwich spot. Rams have Seattle next week and that game will likely decide the division winner, so don't expect a lot of fireworks from the offense today. McVay is very conservative and will look to do a lot of running. Rams will win but it won't be impressive. This team has a nasty habit of playing down to the level of its competition and will do so again today.
Best of luck to all.
