Marquette +17 over LOUISVILLE
There’s no question that the Cardinals are a very good basketball team and their 16-3 record would attest to that. However, this is asking a bit too much from them as the Golden Eagles are not some obscure school that doesn’t have some talent of their own. Travis Diener is a stud for Marquette and is easily one of the top three players in the C-USA. Marquette comes in with a 14-4 record but recent losses to Charlotte, DePaul and Memphis has this line too inflated. Remember, Marquette beat Wisconsin earlier in the year to run its record to 9-0 but have gone just 5-4 since then. Still, we’re not ready to throw the towel in just yet on the Golden Eagles. They’re still one of the heavyweights in this conference and Louisville always brings out then best in them. There’s a right time to step in on most all teams, the trick is to pick a good spot and go with it. With everyone off of the Golden Eagles because of their recent struggles now is the time to take back 17 big points with this very talented team that will bring it all tonight. Don’t think for a second that the players aren’t aware of the point-spread, they are, and frankly, this line is an insult to the players. Had this one been scheduled a week ago the line would have been 10 points at most. Marquette is the exact same team they were when they beat Wisconsin and lost by just five to Arizona. Big overlay. Play: Marquette +17 (Risking 1.65 units to win 1.5).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

PURDUE +1 over Milwaukee-Wisc <o

Let’s get real for a second here, shall we? Milwaukee-Wisc plays in the Horizon League and Purdue plays in the powerful Big 10. Sure, the Panthers are 14-4 overall and 8-1 in league play but let’s have a closer look at that. Playing in the Horizon League the Panthers have faced teams like Cleveland St, Youngstown St., Wisconsin-GB, Loyola-Chicago, Wright St and Illinois-Chicago to name a few. At the start of the season they were facing teams like Prairie View, South Dakota St. and Wisc-Parkside. So yeah, they’re 14-4 but they should be after facing those teams. We should mention that they did play Wisconsin and lost 66-37. Now they’re asked to play a Purdue team that, despite its awful 4-12 record and 0-6 in the Big 10, hung around with No. 1 Illinois, No. 13 N.C. State, No. 16 Michigan St. and have also played Cincinnati, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Iowa. In fact, the Boilermakers were in a position to beat powerhouses Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan St. but ultimately didn’t have enough. Purdue will get an opportunity to vent all its frustrations out tonight, at home no less, against a team that they can easily beat. Forget what you’ve seen or read when it comes to the Boilermakers. They’re certainly not nearly as bad as we’ve been led to believe and they’re certainly not the inferior squad here. This is a team that has been beaten, not embarrassed or destroyed, by some of the top programs in the nation. To think that a team from the Horizon League is going to come into their house and beat them when they’re desperate for a win and have dropped six in a row is absolutely ludicrous. Play: Purdue +1 (Risking 1.65 units to win 1.5).
