MEMPHIS –7 over Indiana<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

Memphis began this season with high expectations after going 50-32 and making its first postseason appearance in 2003-04. Following a 9-15 start, the Grizzlies have turned things around with nine victories in their last 11 games. The team’s last loss was by just seven at Phoenix and they have recent wins at Detroit, by 22, and at Minnesota by nine. The Grizz are among the hottest teams in the league and are well rested with the past three days off. Meanwhile, the Pacers won four straight from Dec. 27-Jan. 4, due in large part to Jermaine O'Neal’s return from a 15-game suspension but are 0-3 on their four-game road trip after a 124-89 loss to Phoenix on Sunday. So far on the trip, which also includes losses to San Antonio and Dallas, Indiana has allowed 118.7 points per game and lost by an average of 22.7 points. We have one well- rested team here, playing as good as any in the league, playing a team that is reeling, playing their third in four nights. Looks like another double-digit loss for the Pacers, something they’re getting used to. Play: Memphis –7 (Risking 1.65 units to win 1.5).<o

New Orleans +8½ over NEW YORK
Since his return on Dec. 22, Baron Davis has slowly worked himself back into the lineup with more and more minutes each game. Upon his return, Davis was playing only about 17 minutes a game and that has slightly risen with each outing. He started playing 24 minutes a game and then, in his last game, a rare win for the Hornets, Davis played 38 minutes in the win over Sacramento. That’s significant because Baron Davis is a force that makes the Hornets competitive. Prior to the win over Sacramento, New Orleans lost by just eight at Memphis and that makes two quality games in a row with Davis playing significant minutes. Meanwhile, the Knicks are playing horribly. A win over Portland, minus Sharif Abdul Raheem and Darius Miles on Sunday, does nothing to convince us otherwise. Isiah Thomas is about to set this team back about five years, just like he’s done with every team he comes in contact with. Knicks have dropped four of five and even in the win over Portland, they looked awful. Knicks have lost identity, they have no inside presence and on most nights the defense is non-existent. Knicks, right now, are about the last team in the Association that is worthy of spotting nearly double-digits with against anyone, including the Hornets. Hornets can win outright here but we’ll gladly accept the wood. Play: New Orleans +8½ (Risking 1.65 units to win 1.5).
