KEY STAT: Juventus have conceded only seven goals in 12 Champions League games this season

EXPERT VERDICT: Barcelona's brilliant attackers are rarely underrated by bookmakers and the value may be for Juventus to frustrate the Catalans – at least in 90 minutes. Juve's defence has been outstanding in Europe this term but they also created plenty of chances in their impressive two-legged victory over Real Madrid and could take Barca to extra time in Berlin.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw

EXPERT VERDICT: Ireland would love to give this high-profile friendly their full attention, but they face a crunch Euro 2016 qualifying clash with Scotland less than a week later which could be a problem for Martin O’Neill when selecting his starting 11. England have played well in recent matches and look worthy favourites.

KEY STAT: Scotland have scored in 13 of their last 14 friendly games

EXPERT VERDICT: Qatar have bounced back well from their Asian Cup disappointment with wins over Algeria and Slovenia as well as a draw with Northern Ireland, but they face a tough test against Scotland. Gordon Strachan has got the Scots playing with plenty of freedom and they should justify odds-on favouritism.

RECOMMENDATION: Scotland

After red-hot April, Over bettors cooled off in May

April was an extremely profitable month for baseball Over bettors, but that trend quickly halted itself in May.

The Over went a sizzling 172-136 in April before going just 192-217 in the month of May.

Oakland ranks as the top Over play in the MLB, evidenced by it cashing in 32 out of its first 50 games.

Twins and A's make the first two months memorable for baseball betting

The Minnesota Twins have bookies seeing double after a sizzling start to the MLB season, earning loyal backers 16.91 units through the first two months of the schedule.

The Twins’ haul through April and May is the ninth most money made by a MLB team in that span since 1999, taking an American League Central-leading 30-19 record their series opener with the Boston Red Sox. Baseball bettors wagering $100 on each of the Twinkies' outings in 2015 are already up $1,691.

With Minnesota pegged as the basement dweller in the division, it has been a moneyline favorite in just nine games this season – a big reason why it’s been so profitable. The Twins looked to be on track to meet those low expectations with a 1-6 start out of the gate this year but picked up momentum by winning three of four games against Kansas City in mid-April and have since gone 29-13, including an 8-2 record in their last 10 contests.

Minnesota isn’t the only major league club making waves at the betting window in 2015. The St. Louis Cardinals’ 33-17 record – the best in the bigs – has cashed in for 14.17 units heading into their series opener with the Milwaukee Brewers. Those earning rank 15th highest in that two-month span over the last 16 MLB campaigns.

Speaking of the Brewers: they were on a historically bad slide to start the year, starting out 3-14 for -12.05 units. And while their fortunes have improved a bit, Milwaukee is still -16.78 units in the hole – the 14th-worst baseball betting two-month start since 1999. At 17-34, the Brew Crew have won just twice in their previous 10 games but were somehow moneyline chalk in seven of those contest (vs. Arizona, San Francisco and Atlanta), throwing gas on the bankroll-burning fire.

While betting the Brewers is enough to drive you to drink, at least you’re not flushing your money down the crapper betting on the Oakland Athletics. The A’s have done their backers wrong in the first two months of the baseball calendar, going just 20-33 (not the worst record in the majors) and costing -18.68 units so far.

That pegs Oakland as the 10th most costly baseball bet, through April and May, of the past 16 seasons. The A’s, who actually ended May with a series win (3 of 4) against New York, have been especially costly at home with a 9-17 record inside O.co Coliseum. Oakland, which finished down -16.14 units in 2014, has been a moneyline favorite in 23 of those 33 losses this season.

So who are the all-time best and worst baseball bets through the first two months of the season? Well, since 1999 no team has made more between April and May than the 2001 Seattle Mariners (40-12), who banked 29.60 units for their loyal backers and finished the year up a 49.73 units (116-46).

On the other end of that scale, the 2000 Houston Astros (19-33) cost baseball bettors -23.30 units in April and May of that season, eventually tanking for -27.10 units (72-90) – which was actually second that year behind the Chicago Cubs at -27.95 (65-97).

MLB roundup: Pineda, Yankees top Mariners

SEATTLE -- On a night when his one-time mentor was struggling through one of the worst outings of his career, Michael Pineda was making a triumphant return.
The New York Yankees' 26-year-old starting pitcher went back to Safeco Field, the ballpark where he started his major league career, and he outdueled former teammate Felix Hernandez on the way to a 7-2 win over the Seattle Mariners.
Pineda (7-2) allowed two earned runs over six innings, while Hernandez (8-2) turned in his worst start of the season and one of the most forgettable of his 10-year career. Hernandez, 29, allowed season highs of seven earned runs and five walks in 4 2/3 innings.
Pineda, meanwhile, was nearly flawless for six innings before the Mariners finally got to him in the seventh. A Mark Teixeira grand slam in the fifth inning helped give the Yankees a 7-0 lead, and Pineda wound up allowing two runs on seven hits in six-plus innings. Pineda struck out nine and walked two.

Cubs 5, Marlins 1
MIAMI -- Jason Hammel set a career high with 11 strikeouts, leading Chicago past Miami.
Hammel (4-2) allowed five hits, no walks and one run in 6 2/3 innings, lowering his ERA to 2.82. All 11 strikeouts were swinging.
The Cubs used a balanced attack on offense with eight different players getting a hit. The most impressive of those hits was a solo home run in the eighth inning by Starlin Castro, who pulled it to left for his fourth long ball of the season.

Astros 5, Orioles 2
HOUSTON -- Evan Gattis capped a four-run rally with a two-run, two-out single in the seventh inning as Houston bounced back to beat Baltimore.
Having scuffled for most of the night against Orioles right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez, the Astros recovered in the seventh, starting with a leadoff double by Chris Carter. Houston added three more hits against two Baltimore relievers, with Gattis' opposite-field hit to right field coming off right-hander Tommy Hunter.
The Astros loaded the bases against Brad Brach (3-1) before George Springer added a run-scoring single to center on a 3-0 pitch and Jose Altuve chipped in a sacrifice fly.

Brewers 1, Cardinals 0
ST. LOUIS -- Mike Fiers worked six scoreless innings as Milwaukee made a first-inning run stand up for a win over St. Louis.
Fiers (2-5) gave up four hits, walked two and struck out six. A bullpen that worked a staggering 13 1/3 innings in Sunday's 7-6, 17-inning win over Arizona got the last nine outs, with Francisco Rodriguez pitching the ninth to earn his ninth save.
Jaime Garcia (1-2) was a tough-luck loser, allowing only three hits and a run in seven innings with no walks and four strikeouts. It was only the seventh loss in 27 home games for St. Louis.

Dodgers 11, Rockies 4
DENVER -- Clayton Kershaw baffled the Rockies and aided his own cause with the first three-hit game of his career, leading Los Angeles past Colorado.
Andre Ethier and Jimmy Rollins hit solo homers for the Dodgers in the second inning. Joc Pederson hit a three-run shot in the sixth, when the Dodgers sent 12 batters to the plate and broke open a 2-2 game with a six-run uprising that matched their highest-scoring inning of the season.
Los Angeles' Howie Kendrick hit a three-run homer in the eighth to give him four RBIs. Adrian Gonzalez went 4-for-4, and everybody in the Dodgers' starting lineup had at least one hit in the team's 18-hit attack.

Braves 8, Diamondbacks 1
PHOENIX -- Freddie Freeman homered and drove in three runs to support Alex Wood's stellar eight innings, and Atlanta cruised past Arizona.
Freeman's seventh home run and second as many games gave the Braves a 5-0 lead in the fifth inning. The first baseman added an RBI single in the sixth inning to make it 7-1.
That was more than enough for Wood, who allowed one run on seven hits over eight innings. Wood (4-2) struck out four, and he did not walk a batter for the first time since Aug. 31. The left-hander also hit a two-run single that opened the scoring. Wood has allowed a total of three earned runs and four runs overall in his past three starts.

Mets 7, Padres 0
SAN DIEGO -- Jacob deGrom pitched eight scoreless innings as New York breezed past San Diego.
DeGrom (6-4) gave up just two hits and struck out eight. He didn't walk a batter in snapping the Mets' seven-game road losing streak. Sean Gilmartin pitched the ninth to give deGrom his first road win in four decisions this season.
The Padres' Andrew Cashner (2-8) lasted just 4 2/3 innings, charged with six runs (five earned) on a career-high 11 hits. He also struck out a career-high 12 batters.

Pirates 4, Giants 3
SAN FRANCISCO -- Gerrit Cole became the third eight-game winner in the major leagues as Pittsburgh beat San Francisco.
Neil Walker broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run double in a three-run fifth inning as the Pirates prevailed in a rematch of last year's National League wild-card game.
Cole (8-2) gave up two unearned runs in the first inning and then shut out the Giants over the next six, allowing five hits in his seven innings. He walked two and struck out nine. Mark Melancon pitched a perfect ninth for his 14th save.

Angels 7, Rays 3
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Albert Pujols hit two home runs, and Mike Trout and David Freese also went deep, lifting Los Angeles to its fifth win in a row.
The winning streak is the longest of the season for the Angels, who are a season-best four games over .500 at 28-24. The four homers continued the team's recent power surge: Los Angeles has 13 home runs in its past five games.
Pujols is leading the way, with five homers in those five games, increasing his season total to 13. The first baseman is tied with center fielder Trout for the team lead

# 1 SHES LOVIN IT 5/1

# 9 THE FACE OF LOVE 7/2

# 2 JODI GIRL 5/2

SHES LOVIN IT has a really strong shot to take this race. Many harness players know speed is of the utmost importance. This solid standardbred has credentials with a 76 avg ranking. This nice horse has shown us some ability in the past, just look at the 80 average class figure. Should play well in this event. THE FACE OF LOVE - She has been battling strongly and the speed figs are among the most solid in the bunch. This standardbred looks dangerous considering the high class statistics. Not a good idea to throw out of any exotics. JODI GIRL - Overall statistics look great. Can't throw her out of the picture.

# 5 MANHATTAN BENNY 5/2

# 6 SPORTS SINNER 4/1

# 1 SHARK TREASURE 3/1

The consensus for this race is that MANHATTAN BENNY is the one to beat. He has been racing soundly and the speed figs are among the strongest in the group of animals. Has a substantial shot today, if he can race to his back class. Could very likely better this field of starters given the 89 speed rating earned in his most recent race. SPORTS SINNER - This race may be controlled by this gelding. Just one look at the avgerage speed rating will prove that. With a 84 average class number, this race horse has one of the top class advantages in the field. SHARK TREASURE - Competing admirably, recorded a huge speed fig in his last contest (88). Positive instinct - performing well enough to contend in this race.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 5 PURGING THE STONE 2/1

# 1 NAGYS PIGGY BANK 4/1

# 3 GEORGIE MY BOY 3/1

PURGING THE STONE has a decent shot to take this race. With a sound jockey who has won at a formidable 16 percent clip over the last month. This has to be one of the top choices. Should definitely be given a chance in this race if only for the formidable speed figure put up in the last contest. He has been running solidly and the speed figures are among the best in this field. NAGYS PIGGY BANK - Has to be given a chance against this group displaying quite good figures as of late and an average Equibase Speed Figure of 101 under similar conditions. With Santiago controlling the reins on him, this gelding should be able to break out early in this race. GEORGIE MY BOY - Shows solid Speed Figures on average overall when measured up against the rest of this group. Must be used in the exotic wagers.

# 3 SECRET BETRAYAL 5/2

# 2 UP TO MY ELBOWS 4/1

# 4 COOL TEMPER 2/1

I back SECRET BETRAYAL here. Could best this group based on the Equibase Speed Fig - 57 - of her last effort. Has solid Equibase Class Figures relative to this group of horses - worth a look. Shows evidence of the look of a money-making play, averaging a solid 51 Equibase Speed Fig which is one of the best in this group. COOL TEMPER - Likely to see a much better effort with the drop. Jockey's recent ROI figures make this filly a strong bet.

#4 MINOR CRISIS (ML=4/1)
#6 CONCERTO'S ENCORE (ML=6/1)

MINOR CRISIS - Dropping in class rating points from his May 8th race at Pimlico. Based on that knowledge, I will give this animal the advantage. CONCERTO'S ENCORE - Looks like the lone speed of the race. Should be tough on the front-end.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 SWISS CONFEDERATE (ML=2/1), #2 IMPROVISED BRUSH (ML=3/1), #5 HUNTING MANDA (ML=8/1),

SWISS CONFEDERATE - This morning-line favorite may be out of condition without any recent morning activity. IMPROVISED BRUSH - Will probably be left with too much to do in the lane. Mediocre fig last time out at Monmouth at 1 mile. Don't feel this entrant will improve too much today. HUNTING MANDA - When scrutinizing today's class rating, he will have to register a much better speed rating than in the last race to be competitive in this dirt route.

#10 UNION SQUARE (ML=8/1)
#11 BORDER (ML=6/1)
#9 LEROY'S BABY (ML=3/1)
#2 STEELAWAY LADY (ML=20/1)

UNION SQUARE - Speed ratings on the grass point to this horse as a legit contender. Has the best in the field for this distance/surface. Mare got a healthy figure last time she tried this distance. That number would be good enough to win today. Earnings per start is something that I believe can be a crucial handicapping factor. This horse is ranked at the very top in this field. BORDER - Faced tougher last out at Monmouth. Based on Equibase class figures, this is a weaker field, so I will put this horse on my list of top contenders. This horse's last 3 speed figs (75, 63, 59) are equal to or higher than today's class rating. That's all the info I need to make a bet. LEROY'S BABY - Was in a $16,000 Maiden Claiming race at Tampa Bay last time out. That event had a class rating of 68 and she is moving down in this race. A certain strong challenger. If this filly gets out of the gate cleanly, she'll be tough to catch. Ran on the wrong surface in her last race. The speed rating of 67 on Nov 26th at Gulfstream West two races back is good enough to win this event. STEELAWAY LADY - Taking a trip down in class; has the class ability to make her presence felt. The entrant with the top average Equibase class figure in turf events is usually a solid play. This thoroughbred fits the bill.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 HONEYED (ML=8/5), #7 ASPIC (ML=9/2),

HONEYED - I'd like to see more hospitable recent showings with morning line odds of 8/5. ASPIC - This filly hasn't been showing me anything in the last two races.

Race 1

(6) TYMAL COLLOSSUS goes back to Moreau's barn sporting a great 2015 record of 5 wins from 15 starts and 10 exacta finishes. He looks formidable here. (7) WELL CONNECTED KID comes in from Indiana where he raced well when he stayed trotting. He fits here and is a threat. (2) JOSEPH GERARD parlayed a sparkling qualifier into a solid victory despite looking a bit shaky down the lane. Auciello immediately prices him to sell here which may not be the best sign.

(9) LEGION OF BOOM raced well in the Youthful series but has raced only sporadically perhaps with an eye to the season-long Grassroots series that begins here. His best would be too much for these if he is ready to produce it. (1) LANCASTER PARK was much more aggressive in his second start as expected and made several moves leading to a win; respect. (3) MR CARROTS twice in a row lost to a good one and looks tough here but he does get one-paced at the worst times; your call.

Race 3

(5) MAKE SOME LUCK has fired off 27 1/5 kickers in both his qualifiers and looks ready to roll for Team Jamieson. He faced much better than these a few times last year. (10) STAR COVER had a useful tightener over Flamboro and looks like the main foe based on class and overall speed. (4) WINDSONG LIGHTNING paced to a lifetime best effort then was a vet scratch sick. He may need his best here to take down the top two; hard to say if he will be ready to produce it.

Race 4

(2) NATURESCAPE destroyed his rivals in the City of London Final Friday night at Western Fair. He will take some beating here as sharp as he is. (5) ARTFUL WAY was on bad cover yet still managed to prevail with a strong late surge; contender. (8) HIS BOY ELROY would love to see some early battling for the front here but that may not materialize so he is likely best used underneath and on wider pick 4 tickets.

Race 5

(4) GAME ON HANOVER put up a stubborn fight but was nailed late by one who 5 days later won a $52K OSS Gold dash out of town; top call here. (8) FLEXCEPTIONAL dodged the tough Tymal Signature and the result was an easy win vs. lesser foes. She certainly fits here, too. (10) NOBLE POWER has a huge late kick but needs to be in contention at the 3/4 to make use of it. Keep on pick 4 tickets at a price.

Race 6

(7) MAC RAIDER suffered interference in the lane last week yet was still only beat 3 lengths in a rapid mile. He will be one of the ones here. (9) REGAL SIGHT still has only one win but appears faster and handier this year. The second victory should be forthcoming soon. (5) WINDSUN STETSON has been excellent in all of his last four starts and is one of several possibilities here.

Race 7

(6) MOONWARDS HANOVER has been prepped twice at London and last out cut some rapid fractions only to be nailed late. That mile may have him perfectly prepared for this opening Grassroots start; top call. (4) MAJOR IN LIFE was involved in some quick miles in New Jersey and displayed good late speed in most of them. He is a contender in this mixed bag. (9) MIDNIGHT PLAY showed some life late in his mile last week vs. a very good winner. Keep an eye on this one at a potential big price.

Race 8

(7) HIDDEN IDENTITY closed okay in his first start off the shelf and could move forward in a big way here at a square price. (10) FORK trotted his best mile in several months and was beating far better than these last year. He could pop here. (1) THE TRAVELLER followed along for second without threatening and then missed a week. We'll try to beat him here as an underlay.

Race 9

(1) CAMVICTED got things back on track vs. lesser at London and it looks like the lead is his for the taking in this Grassroots division. That's where he likes it, so we'll give him the nod. (7) MYHONEYTELLSALL is greatly-improved this year and one that could make things interesting for the choice. (5) CHARLOTTES COLONY was narrowly beaten by the one above at London and also looks much-improved over 2014,

Race 10

(5) TEA WITH MS MCGILL caught some eyes when he won his second start blowing by most of the field late under a death grip. He comes in here off a break but undoubtedly has the talent to compete with these. (6) YORK SEELSTER closed a good gap in his debut and is likely raced more aggressively here in the Grassroots. (9) NOR STAR RENEGADE has had two rough trips since his winning seasonal debut and can bounce back here. (4) MISTER BIG TOP paced much faster than ever before last out and could go forward again here. (2) HP BUSHIDO DRAGJET stopped so abruptly last time that something had to have gone badly amiss. He can get a slice here at a big price.

Yonkers: Tuesday 6/2 Analysis
By Matt Rose

DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 163 - 501 / $871.70 BEST BETS: 21 - 40 / $76.60

Best Bet: MOJITO AS (6th)

Spot Play: CARD SHOCK (12th)

Race 1

(4) WACO BRUISER has just one career win but he's got good early speed which should put him into play. (5) TRUE HERO rallied belatedly in his debut for Banca and now he gets some post relief but I suspect he'll be overbet. (2) MIKADO BLUECHIP went evenly in his two local appearances last month.

Race 2

(5) BINGO QUEEN has missed some time, which is a concern, but I suspect Kleinhans will be able to handle her well and she can charge home in this impossible-to-figure amateur event. (6) MOVEMENT has been sharp in most recent efforts. (1) WHATNBLAZES has class to him and he should be close up throughout.

Race 3

(3) TUFF GUY LINDY broke upon arrival when shipped in from Plainridge, where he had been tearing it up. Give him another chance. (4) UP ZET has been racing well for Forte without a victory to show for it. (7) SMART AS A WHIP was likely facing better at The Meadowlands; have to respect the Svanstedt barn.

Race 4

(1) BRICKMAN finished with willing pace in his local effort three back and he returns with the best post; Brennan should be able to work out a live trip. (3) WISHING YOU WELL gained too late and just missed as the heavy favorite upon entering the Banca barn; big threat. (4) GIOVANNI arrives from Canada and joins the Allard barn; youngster was Sears' choice.

Race 5

(5) JK ALLNITELONG has been very consistent in his last few efforts, including a trip-sitting win last out in a minor NYSS contest; Sears should definitely be firing from the gate. (1) SIR SAM'S Z TAM finally picked up a win last out and gets another crack with similar. (2) BYBY LANDON gets post relief in his second local start.

Race 6

(3) MOJITO AS was a solid winner upon arrival for connections who have had plenty of local success with trotters in the past; repeats at a short price. (1) QUIKWIT has hinted at ability and draws best. (4) MERGATROID never wins but she does have speed and stays flat; note that Jeff Gregory drives today.

Race 7

(3) DEWYCOLORINTHELINE hasn't really put in a bad effort all season, but he's seemingly been just a notch below some of his competitors. He gets a very favorable draw today and wouldn't be a total shock with a live trip. (12) LUMINOSITY is the current King of the Open, having taken three straight in solid fashion, but he's going to have to navigate early traffic from the second tier. (6) BACKSTREET HANOVER has proven she can go with these and she can complete the bottom of the ticket at a big price.

Race 8

(10) STITCH IN TIME finished very willingly for Buter in his local debut and with some racing luck he appears capable in this well-matched event; price should be good. (1) BOUND FOR FAME shows some good efforts recently with better; logical. (8) WESTERN CREDIT was used early overcoming the eight hole last out and understandably tired late; prior race was a sharp closing effort. (2) LIMITLESS looks for four straight for the Allard barn.

Race 9

(5) ANDRIY FORTUNA never looked comfortable last week and ultimately made a break. A more relaxed effort early combined with the added distance can work in his favor today. (9) MUGSHOT JESS had no chance last week but his prior effort was a solid win; veteran fits with these. (10) ROCK OF CASHEL has a solid brush in him but it has to be timed right.

Race 10

(3) WINWOOD SCOUT never fired on the rim last out after being stuck with a second-tier start; from this post it should be much smoother sailing. (1) DREAMSTEELER was super in victory last out, finally putting it together in her third start for Garcia-Herrera; capable of repeating but there won't be much value. (4) MASSIVE TALENT moves inside and can be more involved. (6) CHELSEAS CHANCE returns locally for a barn that's had success here this year.

Race 11

(2) SEAGRAM hasn't done much this year but he does enter a new barn via claim and finds his softest spot in some time. (6) SUN OF A VICTORY does look much the best on paper but he was also claimed last out from a leading trainer; red flag? (9) DIAMONDS R US does fit at this claiming level but she has to mind her manners.

Race 12

(2) CARD SHOCK held pretty well last out after a tough trip chasing some good rivals; this looks like his best spot he's had since returning from Canada. (5) BRISTOL BAY was second best to a runaway winner upon arrival. (7) GOOD SIDE has two big wins at The Meadowlands since joining the Drennan barn.
