The majority of offshore bookmakers haven't a clue as to how to market themselves?

more than 50% IMO. So I go with most.

No way more than 50% have a damn clue other than watch the screen and buy some emails or try and spam other sites. After awhile they realize they suck and stiff or move on.

True!

idiots... I mean it's like selling crack... do you really have to 'sell' it? It sells itself... the problem is that you loose money.

Go figure... a crack dealer that looses money.

yeah these guys have no idea how to market... oh they know how to give sh*t away, but market... no way

That'd be about 95.5% of us.

True, but it doesn't matter.

It's like saying Crack dealers don't advertise.

They don't have to, the addicts come to them. Same with the sportsbooks. Both cater to addictive personalities. All they have to do is hang their shingle and the costumers come to them.

I don't know Shrink, I think half of them don't have a clue about the marketplace to begin with and should never get into the business of owning a book from the beginning. As for those operating, I would say too many of them just try the same old sorry ways of marketing. Yes you need the money and the skills, but you also need some imagination. I just can't believe how many books talk about how different they are or how they will be yet, they open up with the same damn bonuses and the same lines.

"But we are different" Yeah right...

racetracks and the racing industry has all legal
gambling everywhere outside of nevada for
decades and look how they flubbed that... you
don't want to push an addiction... unless of
course you are the government.

I believe that the majority of bookmakers are clueless when it comes to marketing...

I have listened to them talk about advertising when abroad and on the phone. The first think I have always noticed is that they don't even have a clue that they are clueless...

Then, the ones who do have a clue that they suck at marketing don't utilize the right tools to maximize their profits...

It's rather funny too, that the best bookmakers often make the worst mistakes in marketing their product, but some of the worst bookmakers are excellent at selling their fertilizer...

Oh, the irony of it all..

no need for a big marketing budget if you have good customer service and fast payouts, that stuff will market itself

sherman,

You are on to something...

As a customer of many sports books, NONE of them ever picks up the phone to check on how I feel about their operation...

Some of us want to feel recognized or appreciated, and these dummies just can't seem to find the time because they are "in meetings?"

If a sports book wants to retain its customers at a much higher rate, then they need to be more UNIQUE and CREATIVE than their competitors...

I suspect that just a simple phone call on a birthday would have a POSITIVE effect and the cost to them might be $.50 cents, lol?

Good stuff...

You know, come to think of it, my local bookmaker remembered my birthday...

In fact, he gave me much better "personalized" service...

Hmmmm....

It's not that I don't love betting offshore, it's just rather pathetic to see such wise men blow opportunities to get more customers and KEEP THEM HAPPY...

To me, everthing you need to know in a book, is revealed the first time "conflict resolution" is needed. How they manage or mis-manage those situations, is critical.
