Very solid play for a few reasons.
The Cougs have been horrific offensively to start the season, and it shouldn't get any better on the road even against a poor Baylor defense. Head coach Paul Wulff will be naming the starting quarterback just moments before the game, and whoever does start will have a very tight leash which should lead to a poor offensive rythmn throughout. While WSU does have the talent to explode, I just don't see that happening in the first road game of the season.
I don't know much about the Baylor offense outisde of the track star they have at QB, but I do think that the WSU D should keep BU in check. This is a bold statement considering that the D gave up 66 last week to a solid Cal team, but the offense put the defense behind the 8 ball very early in the game. The pass D has been surprisingly solid thus far, even if teams have just stuck to the run because it has been so effective agianst us. This will be a test for the pass D, and if they play like they have the past couple games, Baylor shouldn't have as big of a game as OK State/Cal did in the first two weeks. I noticed that the defense got worked pretty hard this week in practice, with emphasis on the front 7. I expect a lot more blitz packages tonight from the WSU D.
I expect Wazzu to come out trying to establish the run game with Tardy/Ivory behind a very young offensive line, and if Baylor brings their run D to the game, it could be a very long day for the Cougs. I'm a little worried about the uncanny formations Baylor runs, but I think the Cougs hold Baylor in check.
I'm thinking a 24-20 game going either way. Good luck with this and the KU/USF game tonight.
