Aloha Gang. First off, Mahalo Nui Loa (Thank You Very Much) for all your kind words, compliments, and understandings. I have a hard time leaving anyone hanging, as it is not my style, so today, I found some time to get this in to you all. This weeks combined record is 17W-11L= +24 Units. Lets play with the Mans money and hopefully use it to make more.
6 Unit Plays on:
Oregon St -3
-Oregon St has matured over the season and has been playing rather well of late. But this one is more of a play against a poor road team like UCLA, than anything else. If you cant win at St John's, you should lose at most any place else. I am never going to play with UCLA either away or at home. Go Beavers!
Hawaii +10
-Ok, this one is strickly because I feel that the guys have been playing well of late, ex last two games at home which ended in Blowout wins for them. In the last two games for Hawaii, they have scored their most points ever this year in Conf play with both games going over 90 pts. Now I know that both games were played at home, but what is to be noted is the fact that in the process of those two blowout wins, the Warrior defense, was able to hold both Rice and Tulsa to 62pt and 77pts.
Still more importantly, was the fact that Hawaii who this have been riding on the shoulders of the WAC's leading scorer G Mike Kuebler to get things done and lead the way to a Win. In these past few games which started back in Hawaii' home game with SMU, and especially in their last two games with Tulsa and Rice, Hawaii have been getting much needed and extremely important scoring support from its reserve players. In their last game with Rice, Hawaii had 3 reserve players score in double digits. Most notable was backup reserve G Jason Carter who had 14pts and 11 pts in their last 2 games. Also, F reserve Paul Jesinskis contributed 6pts and 12 pts in the last two games. G/F Vaidotas Peciukas who shot 38% from 3pt land and scored 8pts in one of the last two games for the Warriors. Lastly, reserve F Jeff Blackett who plays the most mins and games of all the reserves, had big games scoring 12pts and 9pts in the Warriors last two games. What should be also noted, is how important and crutial this scoring support has been for the Warriors, as their two Senior big man in Martin and Shimonovich have been limited in play and scoring due to their injuries.
Still, the step up in play hasnt stopped at the reserves, as other starters, for instance, F Julian Sensley as well have been stepping things up. He not only lead Hawaii in scoring with 21pts in their last game with Rice, but he also lead them in Assist as well. In the previous game against Tulsa, he lead Hawaii in rebounds and also in assist.
It seems to me, that Hawaii's injuries to their Big guys was a blessing in disguise, as well as put the Warrior teams backs against the wall calling them out to either put up or be gone. The injuries have enabled older yet untested and somewhat inexperienced reserve players their opportunities to shine and show everyone that they are capable of playing as well. Well, they did a great job and now has made the Warriors that much more efficient , effective, and dangerous. Now comes the true test for these reserves, the final two road games which is very important for seeding in the upcoming WAC Tourney, but also may be important in capturing the WAC regular season Title as well, as Hawaii remains just one game behind leader Utep for this Title with two games remaining. Nevada is as well in the same position like the Warriors, but Hawaii beat this Nevada team once already back in Honolulu, but it was without the support they have now in these reserve players who have proven they deserve to put in the Warriors rotations. It used to be, when G Kuebler is on the team is on, but now its not that simple anymore as these players have proven. This seems like a new Warrior team, and that is why I think that a possible upset could happen tonight. Still, if no upset, we at least will cover this ridiculously high spread. Go Warriors!
4 Unit Play on:
Cincy -3
Usc +8.5
Wash -6
3 Unit Plays on:
ND -9
