Sounds like vast majority of these acronyms are used in some weird internet sex chatroom(s). Not regular conversations/text messages.

My g/f's 14 yr old boy text's the entire day if no one checks him. He has a good friend come over, they are both normal kids and they will sit in the same room together texting other people just on and on and on. He is forbidden from having a myspace page... but sure enough, what his mother can't see... I do, being computer savvy. He's got a myspace page. The girls linked to his file are all the same age and their little profiles are all suggestive in subtle but disturbing ways. The kids between 12 and god knows what age are just flat out addicted to texting. It's widespead and it's everywhere.
