I met tony in martinsville in 2001 and we had a very good conversation. It seemed as if I was talking to just a regular guy he didnt have a ego we just talked about sports,women, and the regular things and every race I have attended since if tony walks by or sees me he takes the time to say how are you alan. My dad lives about 5 minutes from the speedway and he has pit passes to all the races and I usually go to every martinsville race and I must say I have only met 3 racers that I thought were total diickheads and they were dale jr, kevin harvick and jeff gordon atleast those are the 3 that have always come off as arrogant to me.
I actually played in a charity softball game with kurt busch last year as some of the racers had a pickup softball game and that guy is a hell of a softball player and just a very nice allround guy.
I have been fishing with sterlin marlin and you talk about a regular guy this guy is as nice as they come.
Its amazing when you see behind the scenes in nascar just how much goes on if you dont follow it there are many many more people you have never heard of that do so many things for these drivers ofcourse the pitcrews all the shop workers and I really enjoy the sport. I just hate they are taking all the races away from nc and taking them to phx,cali and everywhere else, I figure martinsville will be gone after a couple more years, racing grew here I remember about 8 years ago I was in chicago in a taxi and dad and I were talking about nascar and we mentioned nascar and the cabbie had no idea what nascar was.
