Another MAC team tonight. I don't follow these teams. Sorry, the NIU pick last night turned sour from the start. UAB was just simply bigger and stronger at the point of attack. Yes the NIU QB was bad but UAB won that game at the LOS. As someone who has played in space against some of the best talents in D1 football. The front 7 is critical to saving a lot of easy TD's. That NIU DB should smack the coach who kept lining him up in man vs UAB's WR. NIU was gambling that the front 7 could get pressure on the UAB QB. Remember all coaches are glorified HS PE teachers, Not the sharpest tools in the shed. It's easy to blame the DB but the front 7 was neutered from the start and the coaches should have seen that. Either way UAB was just the better team, it was men vs boys.

On to Ohio vs SDSU. I would suggest tailing someone else with these lesser games. I don't have time to watch Ohio, ect. It is critical to watch these teams play. Having said that the stats say Ohio should cover this game. Their offense is in the top 10 however SDSU is not far behind. Ohio defense is 80th, SDSU defense comes in at 27th. Since I value defense so much, my preference is for the higher ranked D playing a tougher schedule.

So its SDSU for me tonight again small < $250

Yes and in the thick grass the NI front 7 could not rush the way they are accustomed to on their artificial turf field and league, against lesser OL's. And the coach did not figure that out and give help to that DB covering # 7. He had 3 TDs, 70, 60+, 45+ by mid third quarter, man coverage.

The SDSU coach said whatever team dominates the LOS wins the game. Question is who is better :think2:

I don't mean to imply coaches are stupid. They tend to be street savvy/smart survivors. Risk taking is in their nature, it has to be. Who in his right mind gets married, has a mortgage, has 3 kids, a dog and depends on 19-year-olds to keep his wife, house, 3 kids and the dog?

I can assure you the NIU coaches knew they were physically outmanned at the LOS. They won't say that to the players, but you can see it in their game planning. They had to take the gamble that the when UAB threw the ball that 3 things can happen and 2 of them are bad for UAB. Unfortunately for NIU and that DB, the UAB QB was making the throws and the WR's were making the catches. The same game a week later and UAB misses those throws.

I know nothing about Ohio except Solich is a Nebraska guy who is going to be sound in the trenches. His OL is going to execute to the best of their ability. Does SDSU have the front 7 to slow their running game down? Can Solich depend on his QB or WR to exploit SDSU secondary? SDSU should be able to move the ball on Ohio D's, can they man up and stop Ohio's running game? Clemson, Bama, Georgia can shut anyone's running game down. Unfortunately, SDSU and Ohio are not one of those teams.

Ohio’s running game aside, SD have to worry about the chunk plays where they rank in the bottom half of the nation, thus freeing up the run game. Ohio offense is prolific, they will move the ball all night.

Clearly, if SDSU is going to succeed tonight they need to keep Ohio's offense off the field as much as possible. They are set up to do that in 2 ways. Ohio is ranked 80th in defense, pretty bad but not the worst. That should allow SDSU to move the ball when they need to and more importantly sustain drives. Which they will need too. Solich will need to sell out at times to get stops can SdSU make him pay?

On defense SDSU also holds teams to rushing for 94 yards per game on 34 attempts. A stark difference from Ohio who rushes the ball for 264 yards on 43 attempts per game. Ohio also throws the ball well, not sure how SDSU does vs the pass. All the more reason to keep Ohio offense on the sidelines. I think SDSU can slow down Ohio's running game enough to force Ohio to throw the ball more. A few drops, bad throws or a pick is certainly giving SDSU better odds especially if they can slow Ohio's running game.

SD will take chances to slow down rushing attack, let's hope its not as disastrous as NIU last night.

Let’s not forget that all these stats are season wide. Last 3 games that defense has been abused and why SDST lost their final 3 games of the season.

Don't think so...some stuff will blow through (some rain?) but by game time and through, should be perfect football weather (50s & slight wind). Signed Ron Burgundy
