Cows produce cholesterol yet they are vegetarians. I've believed for a long time that our bodies are what contribute more to cholesterol levels than our diets.
The people I've known that have had the hardest time with heart disease have been skinny people. That's not to say fat people don't have problems too. I'm just saying that you don't have to be fat to have a hard time with your heart.
its the secret that drug co.s don't want lay people to realize.
genetics play a much higher role in having heart attacks from high cholesterol.
alot of familys have high cholesterol but have NO history of MIs or strokes.
Its the families where heart problems are common that need to watch their cholesterol levels/what they eat.
similar to families that have high rates of Cancer(my family)
so i watch what i smoke, eat healthy and don't become obese (constant battle)
also i take 5 different types of antioxidants,
(lycopene, vitamins C + E, resveratrol, pycnogenol{grape seed extract}).
also take policosanol for cholesterol even though neither side of my family tree has ever had heart problems (alot of cirrhosis though)
