Does that not sound awfully high? I realize it probably isn't since it is probably something i can't do but that is what Best Buy wants or their Geek Squad. I want to reformat my older notebook and take and leave at my lake house but it is running really slow and would like to fix this before i go. The other notebook is almost new and it runs fine. Have a friend coming in Dec and he knows how to , :shocked:but hate to put it on him.

Who is it made by? Just call them & get a restore CD & you can do it yourself.

It will automatically reformat it & reload everything.

You may actually have the restore cd already if you kept everything that it came with.

$350? F them

I think i'm going to try this. Will this affect my wireless setting's or dsl settings? I realize it probably will affect my printer and all other software i have installed since i bought machine. I really haven't anything except the Ca antivirus and spyware. Everything else was already there.

You'll need to copy/move EVERYTHING that you want.

Do you have a CD/DVD burner or flash drive that you can copy stuff to?

This is a one way deal-everything besides the base WinXP install will be gone....100% GONE. AV, spyware, printers, files, wireless setup, DSL config, everything.....GONE

All your wireless/dsl stuff will have to be setup again.

You are scaring me away. I spent two hours two weeks ago setting up my wireless again because it went on the blink. Thought i was going to go crazy, could not understand this guy from India. Guess i better pass until Christmas and let this buddy of mine help.

Nothing scary about it as long as you realize that EVERYTHING will have to set back up.

Sucks, but yeah-that's the deal
