Love this spot for Cal Poly as it's the Ulitmate Sandwich game for UC Irvine, who's coming off a brutal loss to Cal Santa Barbara and this will be their 6th road game in the last 8 games they've played. They'll be looking to get back home, where they are a much better offensive team. They average almost 10 points fewer on the road this season than they do at home (83.5 vs 74.3) Meanwhile, Cal Poly is a dangerous team because of how they live by the 3 or die by the 3. The good news is they are at home and are #1 in the conference in made 3's per game. They also have one of the best scorers in the country leading the charge in Hamad Mousa, ranking as the nation’s 20th-leading scorer at 20.8 points per game. Cal Poly is also 18th in the nation in free throw shooting (77.5%), which can help us narrow the gap in this game.
Given the spot and the fact that Cal Poly has enough fire power to keep this game close, I like their chances of keeping this game close and by speeding up UC Irvine. The market has already moved the total to the OVER from an open of 154 to 158. I like Cal Poly's chances of making enough threes in this game to get us the cover.
