Northwestern -8.5 - I heard a stat a couple weeks ago that just boggled my mind. Did you know that Northwestern is the only Big10 team to never make the March Madness tournament. It's hard to think that a team of that statue, and playing against such quality teams for so long, hasn't been able to get enough quality players on their squad at least one time to put together a good season and make the tournament. Well, I thought then that this could be the year that it happens, until they just got absolutely dominated the last five games to really diminish their chances. However, the season is not over and if you don't think that these Northwestern players don't know they could be the first kids in school history to make the tournament come selection Sunday than your crazy. This team has just enough time left to put something together and prove they are a caliber team that deserves to be in it. After getting smashed majority of the last five games and losing 7 of the last 9 they come back home tonight and play a Minnesota team that has just barely been losing as of late to some very good teams (indiana twice by 6,7, michigan by 5 and purdue by 4). For these two reasons I would have thought line would be around 6. I'm trusting oddsmakers. Basing it off the way these two have played lately, seems like they want Minny money to me putting it at 8.5. Northwestern is a much better defensive team ranking at 67th in country and better offensively as well. Minnesota does not rank inside the top 217 nationally in any category offense or defense other than ft's where they are 166th. Northwestern has already proven they can beat Minnesota where they won on the road by 25 a little less than a month ago. That was about their last good game they've had and I think that could be a confidence booster here. If this is the year that Northwestern wants to break out of the BIG10 dance slump than they must win this game. A loss here and I'd say you can pretty much pack your dream of dancing in march away for good this year.
