Nucks usually play the Wings tough. This isn't the same Vancouver team, nor is it the same Detroit team.
I think the roadies are worse and homies are better(if that is possible)

Detroit is a powerhouse. Scoring on every line and tough.
Lost to Laffs home opener(so anything can happen) then won two on the road.
Think they get first home win this season, at the Joe.

Nucks beat Cal. twice and then the first real test, lay a very big egg versus Wash. 10 total shots.
'Couver got whacked around by the tougher Caps.
IMHO, Nucks will be VERY fortunate to get a point in this one.
I see more punishment and a Detroit win in reg.

Rare biggie for me, no chase here(I don't do that)
Early post because I see this line moving up.....seems off to me.

As my first line sez.........they do play Wings tough.
IMHO: I don't think they are tough any more.
But, the Laffs beat 'em in "Raise the banner night" so anything can happen.

Odds to win Cup:
Detroit +325
Nucks +3000

I'd take this bet if they were in Vancouver!

Henrik Zetterberg-C-Red Wings Oct. 16 - 11:38 am et

Henrik Zetterberg might miss Thursday's game against Vancouver.
Zetterberg left Wednesday's practice due to tightness in his groin, putting his status for Thursday's game in question. "He told me he shot the puck, and then he felt like he jammed himself," coach Mike Babcock said. "He felt some tightness so he just came off right away." Zetterberg scored a goal and registered two assists in three games this season.

GL to you pulling that Regulation -1/2 win

I'll be using Couver +1.5 as since the lockout, Nucks have handled that number in 11 of 12 meetings vs Detroit.

Other notes in similar vein

Nucks last season playing with 2+ days rest (H&A) were 16-4 graded at +1.5 -- Add in the previous season and they've covered +1.5 in 40 of 48 chances

In ALL games Away last season with at least a day off since previous game, Nucks were 26-6 at +1.5 -- Add in the previous season and they're 52-12

Nucks only permitted 5+ goals in four games last season and in three of the games following they covered +1.5

Add in the previous season and they're 14-4 After Allowing 5+ goals.

Nucks last season After Scoring 1orless goals covered +1.5 in 17 of 22. Add in previous season and they're 29-8

Finally, Wings last 20 outings playing with 2+DaysRest have seen them win only 10 times SU and only six times when graded at -1.5

BOL to all however you elect to proceed in this game

Just my take but I would place very little stock in what the canucks did against the caps. 2 physical, emotionally draining games against arguably their biggest rival and then they are back on the road in a game that means nothing in hockey terms. It was a flat spot waiting to happen and washington is too talented to be taken anything but seriously. I don't think it was represenative of the effort the canucks are going to give night in night out against good teams. The wings should win tonight but im sitting this one out.

Nucks looked like crap against the Caps.

I was at the Nucks-Caps game and I liked the Nucks going in but after watching their dreadful performance I can't pick them tonight. It is going to take some better execution for me to pick the Nucks again. I wish you luck tonight.

Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg will not play in tonight’s game against the Vancouver Canucks at Joe Louis Arena because of a slight groin injury.

Zetterberg did not participate in this morning’s practice skate.

To take his place in the lineup, the Wings have recalled forward Darren Helm from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Thanxs for all the input.
How the Nucks could have been emotionally drained after 2 phucking games escapes me??
These are very young men in the prime of their lives with 84 more to go! Geez.

I think they lost cause they suc.
That is what we will find out, against the defending Stanley Cup Champs.

After past season and a half of increased parity leaguewide, I'm not prone to label a team as either crappy or mighty until they show me at least 10 games leaning one way or the other.

I don think they were emotionally drained. They were jet lagged first time on the east coast. If you listened to next day interviews they said whatever was wrong with the team it effected everyone.

washington started to get physical with cancuks and they turtled, its going to happen.

no team is as bad or good as their last game.

No bad luck

my thoughts exactly Powerz, we often see Western NFL teams struggle when they go to the East coast (ex. Seahawks). I love betting against NHL teams on first game of a big road trip when they cross the country. Canucks played Saturday night in Calgary then Monday afternoon in Washington, kinda fits the bill there, I think we see a good close game tonight

Tough break, last year this bet would have won. There is something not right with this Wings team, their defense is bad they gave up way too many odd-man rushes. Very similar to the shitty first game they lost this year against the Leafs, and we all see now how putrid they are. I think age is catching up to them, especially on the blueline this year.

you gotta give some credit to the canucks this was a pretty well played game from both sides, breakdowns defensively a few times both ways and teams paid for them, certainly not a flawless defensive spectacle but a good game. No Z certainly didn't help but this canuck team can play.
