KEY STAT: Groningen have scored in eight of their last nine home fixtures

EXPERT VERDICT: After failing to make the breakthrough at Pittodrie, Aberdeen know they must produce something special on their venture to Holland. Groningen are always a safe bet to score at home, so Derek McInnes will probably set his team up to counterattack in the search for a crucial away goal.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: St Johnstone conceded only 16 goals at home in the SPL last season

EXPERT VERDICT: Tommy Wright described his St Johnstone side as a team that "loved to defend" after their first-leg 1-1 draw in Switzerland last week, and they are capable of sufficiently containing Lucerne for another 90 minutes at McDiarmid Park. The Scottish Cup winners can make their imperious home record count.

RECOMMENDATION: St Johnstone

KEY STAT: Stjarnan have conceded in their last four home fixtures

EXPERT VERDICT: Motherwell's carelessness in their own penalty area hurt them badly in the 2-2 draw at Fir Park, gifting their Icelandic opponents two goals from the penalty spot. However, the Well controlled the majority of the play and can still grab the victory they need, despite being priced up as outsiders.

RECOMMENDATION: Motherwell

KEY STAT: Bohemians haven’t won a single league match at home this season

EXPERT VERDICT: Title-chasing Cork went out of the League Cup on Monday but have conceded a league-low 14 goals this season and can keep up their good away form with a win. Bohemians are unbeaten in five but may lack sharpness having not played a competitive fixture in two weeks, while they also possess the worst home record in the division.

RECOMMENDATION: Cork

KEY STAT: Bray Wanderers have lost eight of their last nine matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Bray Wanderers inflicted Dundalk’s only defeat in their last 19 league matches when the sides met in April, but their recent form couldn’t contrast more sharply with the title favourites. Bray have won only once since that match and have conceded at least three goals in their last five fixtures. Expect Dundalk to inflict further misery.

RECOMMENDATION: Dundalk 3-0

KEY STAT: Derry have won just one of their nine away fixtures in the league this season

EXPERT VERDICT: UCD pushed title-chasing Cork City last week despite playing with ten men for an hour, so look value to take the points against Derry City. The visitors have a Thursday night fixture in Belarus to recover from and have beaten only bottom club Athlone Town on their travels this season.

RECOMMENDATION: UCD

DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 213 - 817 / $1,402.70 BEST BETS: 17 - 68 / $74.00

Best Bet: GURAL HANOVER (5th)

Spot Play: FRONTIERPAN (9th)

Race 1

(5) APACH OF LUCK was sharp in victory last time out and the repeat is clearly not out of the question. (1) PERFECTLY ROYAL should do much better from the fence. (3) LITTLE MERMAID N is better than his latest, so watch out.

Race 2

(1) FLYHAWK EL DURADO was on the lead and broke on the final turn. Trotting sophomore is capable of getting back to his winning ways. (5) EXPRESSIVE ACTION has good tactical speed and is a big threat in here. (2) ZOEY DE VIE got the job done upstate in his recent trip.

Race 3

(1) TRIPLE MAJOR gets post relief and that might be what he needs to win this. (2) BIG TIME ROCKS put in a mild rally in his last try. (3) SODYS MOONSHINE is not out of this by far.

Race 4

(6) CRAZZYCRAZZY posted an easy victory at Monticello in his recent trip to the post. Gelding seems to have a fondness to the half-mile oval so a repeat effort is within the realm. (2) CONSUMER RATE was second best last out in his Maryland finale. (5) GENERAL BILL BROWN has wheeled off two straight victories.

Race 5

(6) GURAL HANOVER has been the boss in his last three tries. Clearly the one to deny. (2) CASH ME OUT just got up for the placing last time out; second best. (1) ROYAL MAX completes the trifecta.

Race 6

(2) BAY FISHEN DOC is on a roll having scored in four straight. Goes for a new barn and Bartlett signs on; the pick. (3) ORR HANOVER could not get to the the top choice in his recent start; threat again. (1) YANOYANOMENOW was sent down the road for all the glory last out at Monticello.

Race 7

(2) CASHAMATIC showed signs of life in his latest upstate. Trotting sophomore could take this with a well-timed drive from Fluet. (4) SOMEWAY SAME HALL is knocking at the door based on his last two tries. (1) HS MERLIN should fare well from the rail slot.

Race 8

(1) CRAVEN THE BEACH had a big lead and was caught at the wire for win honors last time out. Gelding moves to the fence and Sears stays aboard; gets the call. (3) SIMPLY BUSINESS & (2) ARRONS MATTJESTY gets serious post relief.

Race 9

(2) FRONTIERPAN was nailed for the victory in her last try. Pacing miss can move forward against these and gets the services of Brennan. (5) BILLMAR SCOOTER raced evenly in her last try; main danger. (6) MAJOR LOOK moves down in class and that might help her cause.

Race 10

(5) SET ME UP has put in three nice efforts. With the right trip, she can get the job done with Brennan in the bike. (1) SO NICE has tactical speed and the rail slot to boot; contender. (2) BIJOU THEATER just got up for win honors last out against lesser company.

Race 11

(3) FLYING MOCHA has hit the board in her last five starts. Pacing mare has every right to put her best foot forward and greet the cameraman. (1) GRACE SEELSTER is a speedy miss that moves to the 1-hole and will be the one to catch. (2) CHERRY BLISS put in a mild bid in her latest.

Race 12

(4) QUAIL could be ready to fire her best if this gal has a perfect trip. (1) MCEVER gets serious post relief and Bartlett is at the helm; main danger. (2) MACH THIS WAY has fine speed and is not out of this event.

DRF HARNESS

Race 4 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: SHE’S DANGEROUS (10th)

Spot Play: MINESTRE HANOVER (4th)

Race 1

(5) CAPTURETHEMEMORY made a miscue last week down the stretch and finished fourth but was placed sixth. (1) BRANDON IRON missed as the favorite last week in this maiden level, but I'll back him this week in the exactor slot and hope for a better effort. (9) O NARUTAC SUPREMO hasn't been in trainer Mark Steacy's hands very long, but made a good account of himself last week with a fourth-place finish.

Race 2

(6) THE SHOW RETURNS is a full sister to Put On A Show ($2.4 million - 1:47 3/5) and was a $180K yearling purchase by the same connections. (7) SHEEZTOUGHENOUGH was a mere $6K yearling purchase for trainer/co-owner David Menary and so far in her career appears worth every penny. (4) CHEEKIE almost got the job done in her most recent start for trainer Carl Jamieson and once again will begin from an inside post this week.

Race 3

(7) MR LOVER is a very lightly-raced youngster that appears to have all kinds of talent based on his performances last season in three starts and his most recent qualifier. (2) AGGRESSIVE finally draws inside this week for trainer Garth Gorden after a trio of outside post positions. (4) MARIO BI made a miscue last week, which is uncharacteristic of the trotting son of Andover Hall.

Race 4

(8) MINESTRE HANOVER comes from the Dean Nixon barn, which is a good angle to use. (4) WHOSURPAPA has hit the board in two of his last three starts and continues to have Doug McNair in the bike. (3) GET AROUND TOWN returns to this circuit and has been pacing credible miles at Georgian Downs in recent weeks for trainer Vern Cochrane.

Race 5

(2) HILL I AM started off his career in perfect fashion from three starts in the early stages of last season then began making breaks, which has continued into this year. (6) ADVERSITY trotted his best effort of his young career last week for trainer/driver Per Henriksen. (8) DAMFOOLRMILLIONAIR hasn't missed the board in four starts this season, shows all kinds of versatility and comes from the Maxwell barn.

Race 6

(7) PAID IN CASH is a perfect one-for-one to begin her career and comes from the Travis Umphrey barn, which has been terrific this season from limited starts. (4) MAJOR HANGOVER entered the Vic Puddy barn last week and finished third, beaten less than two lengths for the win. (2) IMPATIENCE was a $130K yearling purchase two seasons ago and will make her fifth start of the season tonight.

Race 7

(3) SI SEMALU has been a main threat in this class over the past few weeks and comes from high percentage trainer Pat Fletcher. (5) PANEDICTINE was very impressive in his winning effort last start as he won by two lengths in 1:53 2/5 at Hiawatha Horse Park. (6) SUMMONS has terrific gate speed and trainer Mike Lamoureux's barn has been very good this season from limited starts.

Race 8

(4) POCKET TRIP comes from the Kelly Goodwin barn and has been a main threat in this class for many weeks. (2) RAMAS LAST SON hasn't been at his best in recent weeks, but made a miscue two back and competed in the Canadian Breeders Championships last start. (3) MASSACAIA draws inside and is fresh off a win for trainer Richard Moreau. He captured his division by a head and returns to this circuit and will look for a repeat effort.

Race 9

(3) RIGHTINTHEKISSER was developed in Florida by US based trainer Dan Daley before a pair of winning qualifiers at Vernon Downs and shipping into the Mark Steacy care. (1) MARACASSO was just an $8K yearling purchase and comes from the John Williamson barn, which has had success in recent years with younger horses. (6) SANDINISTA was a $15K yearling and comes from top conditioner Dustin Jones.

Race 10

(4) SHES DANGEROUS was a winner two starts back, comes from the Tony Alagna barn and gets Jamieson back in the bike this week. (1) A AND GS DELIGHT has been blessed with the rail and comes from the David Menary barn. (4) J HIGH has paced home in :27 4/5 in three of her last four starts. She appears to be pacing at her best in the latter stages of the mile, but has struggled to be placed in proper position.

The Walker Group Picks

# 7 LOUISIANAS LAST 5/1

# 6 JECONCAS LITTLEMAN 7/2

# 5 JESSE JAMES TOO 9/2

LOUISIANAS LAST is tough to overlook as the bet in here. Have to look at solely on class, with some of the most respectable class figs of this field. JECONCAS LITTLEMAN - Reliable average Equibase speed figs in longer quarter horse races make this animal a contender. With a formidable 70 Equibase Speed Fig last time out, will definitely be a factor in this contest. JESSE JAMES TOO - Has garnered formidable Equibase Speed Figs in longer quarter horse races in the past. Is a key contender - given the 71 speed figure from his most recent race.

#5 KEEP RIGHT (ML=7/2)

KEEP RIGHT - This jock and trainer have a profitable return on investment when they join forces. This animal collects a lot of dough per race. Number one in this affair. Horse has improved at least 2 speed fig points in last two races. I look for that trend to continue right here.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 MISS ELECTRONICA (ML=3/1), #9 MARY'S IN UTOPIA (ML=4/1), #8 BUILT IN A DAY (ML=5/1),

MISS ELECTRONICA - Unlikely that the speed figure she garnered on Jun 12th will hold up in this affair. MARY'S IN UTOPIA - Ran her best speed rating last race out, but the 'off track' may have had something to do with it. BUILT IN A DAY - Trying to beat this entrant in today's event at the reward of 5/1.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - KEEP RIGHT - This filly is moving from the grass to the dirt. Looking for her first win, this is a positive move.

5½ FURLONGS TURF THREE YEAR OLDS STAKES $100,000.00 PURSE

#1 PURE SENSATION
#5 FAVORITE TALE
#4 GOOD BYE GREG
#7 CHOCTAW CHUCK

For you folks who enjoy a little Thoroughbred Racing History to accompany your handicapping efforts this afternoon ... inaugurated in 2008, the Quick Call was named after the multiple graded stakes winning gelding who won more than half his 16 career victories at the Spa. Trained by Sid Watters, Jr. and Warren Croll, Quick Call finished fifth in the Saratoga Special in 1986, and went on to win nine races there each year from 1987-1990 including the Forego in 1988 and 1989. He was retired in 1992. Here in the 7th renewal of this stakes race, #1 PURE SENSATION has produced "POWER RUNS" in five straight starts, hitting the board in four, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in his 5th race back. Jockey Jose Lezcano and Trainer Chris Clement send him to the post for the "Thursday Feature" ... they've hit the board with 56% of their entries saddled as a team to date. #5 FAVORITE TALE, the morning line favorite, has hit the board in "POWER RUN FASHION" in three of his last five outings, including a pair of "POWER RUN WINS" being embedded in this recent streak of racing consistency.

#7 LAKOTA ROAD

#3 CRAFTY REGAN
#1 COCONUT CREAM PIE

#7 LAKOTA ROAD takes a slight class drop (-1), and has produced "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in five straight, hitting the board in four, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in her 2nd race back, in a race which was contested at today's TrackMaster PLUS Class Level of 87. Jockey Elvis Trujillo has been in her irons on two previous occasions, posting a win and a place finish, and is back this afternoon here at Del Mar for his 3rd ride, gunning for another "Circle Trip." #6 HANSERELLA is the overall speed and pace profile leader in this allowance field racing at today's distance of a mile on the turf, and has scored with a quartet of "POWER RUN PLACE" finishes in her last five starts.

# 4 S W IAN 2/1

# 3 SAVINGS N LOAN 8/5

# 2 SECURE THE BORDER 6/1

I've got to go with S W IAN. Has put up formidable speed figures in dirt sprint races in the past. Has to be given a shot - I like the numbers from the last race. Could provide positive returns based on very good recent Equibase speed figs with an average of 74. SAVINGS N LOAN - Could provide positive dividends based on formidable recent speed figures with an average of 67. Should go to the front end and might never look back. SECURE THE BORDER - Seems to have a very good class edge based on the most recent company kept. Looks solid to be up on the lead at the first call.

Prairie Mdws - Race #1 - Post: 6:30pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $16,000 Class Rating: 69

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#5 JACKSON STATION (ML=3/1)

JACKSON STATION - This horse didn't run well on a track listed as good in his last race at Prairie Mdws. You should ignore that effort. Faced tougher last time out at Prairie Mdws. Based on class ratings, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this horse on my list of strong contenders. Thompson was aboard this gelding in the last race and was impressed enough to take the horse right back. Just check out his most recent speed fig, 65. That one fits well in this field. While the finish was disappointing, this mount made a good stretch move last race out at Prairie Mdws. Have to do better today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 CY SEVEN (ML=2/1), #4 KNOW YOU NOW (ML=5/2), #1 CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE (ML=4/1),

CY SEVEN - The Brain always tells me to keep my distance from thoroughbreds in sprint events that haven't hit the board in short distance races lately. Could be tough for this thoroughbred to beat this field off of that last speed fig. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class rating, so put him on the likely underpriced contenders list. KNOW YOU NOW - Today's event is 6 furlongs. Hasn't hit the board in a sprint affair in the last couple of months. Not the best of omens. That was just not a very good showing in the last event. Won't be easy for this animal to beat this field off of that last speed figure. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today's class rating, so put him on the likely underpriced equines list. CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE - This gelding likely won't be right there at the finish line.
