KEY STAT: Germany’s last four fixtures have produced 19 goals

EXPERT VERDICT: Germany’s last defeat was at the hands of the Americans, 4-3 in a thriller last June. A point will do each side but it’s hard to believe these adventurous teams won’t produce goals. The likes of Thomas Muller and Miroslav Klose are on scoring missions and the Germans can edge a thriller.

RECOMMENDATION: Germany 3-2

KEY STAT: Cristiano Ronaldo has scored just two World Cup goals from 62 efforts

EXPERT VERDICT: Portugal have looked to be at panic stations from as soon as they fell behind against Germany. Ghana, who can defend uncompromisingly when required, know that a half-fit Cristiano Ronaldo needs stopping and if they can do it, it levels the playing field. Both sides need the win so expect more goals in a group that’s full of them.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: Algeria have scored in their last 14 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Russia need to win to qualify and looked decent enough going forward against Belgium to suggest they can find the net. Algeria, who have scored five goals so far (which is five more than in 2010), aren’t good enough defensively to just sit back. An early goal will light the blue touch paper and goals are expected.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: Belgium have won ten and drawn the other two of their last 12 competitive fixtures

EXPERT VERDICT: Belgium have looked incredibly ordinary so far and Marc Wilmots may want to keep the likes of Eden Hazard fresh for battles ahead. They were barely deserved winners against Algeria and Russia and while it’s possible they may improve now they can relax, it’s also possible there will be nothing between them and South Korea.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw

USA V GERMANY

[h=2]2014 FIFA WORLD CUP[/h]
  • Venue: Arena Pernambuco, Recife
  • Date: Thursday 26 June
  • Kick-off: 17:00 BST

[h=2]TEAM NEWS[/h]USA striker Jozy Altidore again misses out with a hamstring strain, but coach Jurgen Klinsmann is hopeful he will be fit if they make the knockout stage.
They could name the same starting XI that drew with Portugal.
Germany defender Jerome Boateng and midfielder Sami Khedira have recovered from the knocks they picked up against Ghana.
Thomas Muller is also fit despite suffering a nasty facial wound in that match.
[h=2]MATCH PREVIEW[/h]Few games at this World Cup will throw up as many intriguing subplots as the Group G decider between USA and Germany.
A draw in this match would send both sides through to the last 16, which brings us neatly on to subplot one.
Both teams have been very quick to deny that they will play for a mutually beneficial point, given the cloud that will always hang over the Germans due to the infamous "Disgrace of Gijon" match at the 1982 World Cup. The then-West Germany side and Austria appeared to play out a 1-0 win for the Germans that sealed both countries' path in to the next round.
Nonetheless, the USA and Germany have never drawn in nine previous meetings and, besides, both sides will be desperate to win the group and avoid a probable second-round clash against Belgium.
Subplot two is that the USA are of course led by German legend Jurgen Klinsmann, scorer of 47 goals in 108 internationals for Die Mannschaft.

He has described this match as a "once in a lifetime occurrence" and knows the Germany squad well, having coached the likes of Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker, and Miroslav Klose at the 2006 World Cup before handing over the reins to his assistant at the time, Joachim Low.
The two are still close, but that has been put to one side until after the tournament. "We are good friends, and I am doing my job", Klinsmann said. "There is no time now to have friendship calls. That time is done. "
Subplot three is Klinsmann's somewhat controversial recruitment policy in which he has scoured the Bundesliga for players with dual American-German nationality.
Five of his squad will have split loyalties when the national anthems are played. Midfielder Jermaine Jones, who won three caps for Germany in friendlies in 2008, says he will not celebrate if he replicates the wonder goal he scored against Portugal: "With both the anthems I'll close my eyes, let everything go through and then after I will try to make my game,"
And finally, a piece of history awaits for Germany striker Klose. He needs just one goal to become the record goalscorer at World Cup finals.
[h=2]MATCH FACTS[/h]Head-to-head

  • The USA won 4-3 when the two nations last met in a friendly in June 2013.
  • Germany have scored 12 12 goals in their last four matches against the USA.
  • The last four fixtures between the sides have produced 19 goals, at an average of 4.8 per game.
  • They have met twice before at the World Cup. Germany won 2-0 in 1998, when current USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann scored the second goal, and 1-0 in the 2002 quarter-finals.
USA

  • The USA have not won two World Cup games in a row since their opening two matches of the first tournament in 1930.
  • Clint Dempsey needs one more goal to draw level with Landon Donovan's American record of five World Cup goals.
  • The USA have scored in eight successive World Cup games, their best run since their opening eight matches (1930-1990).
  • Seven of the USA's last eight World Cup goals have come after half-time.
  • The States have conceded in each of their last 15 World Cup games against European opposition.
  • Following Nani's goal for Portugal, the USA have now conceded seven goals at the World Cup in the first five minutes of a match, the most of any team in World Cup history, overtaking Hungary (six).
Germany

  • Germany have scored in 19 of their last 20 World Cup group games.
  • Miroslav Klose is only the third player in World Cup history to score in four different editions of the competition (after Pele and Uwe Seeler).
  • Thomas Muller has eight goals and four assists in eight World Cup appearances.
  • Mario Gotze has scored three goals in his last three appearances for Germany, and four in five in 2014.

Portugal v Ghana

2014 FIFA WORLD CUP

  • Venue: Estadio Nacional, Brasilia
  • Date: Thursday 26 June
  • Kick-off: 17:00 BST

TEAM NEWS

Portugal welcome back Pepe after suspension for a game they must win.
However, they have injury concerns over Hugo Almeida and Helder Postiga, while the injured Fabio Coentrao is already out of the tournament.
Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari is suspended after picking up two bookings.
Michael Essien could come in to the side for his first start of the tournament, while right-back Daniel Opare is still out injured.
MATCH PREVIEW

At least one of these sides will definitely be out of the World Cup come the final whistle of this match - and both will go if the USA and Germany draw. Qualification is out of their hands, and Portugal and Ghana must win to have any chance of progressing.
Portugal, by their own admission, have not played like a side ranked fourth in the world by Fifa.
They were awful against Germany and, despite showing signs ofimprovement against Ghana, this has looked like a tournament too far for a team that has barely changed its personnel over the last three years.
Central to their malaise has been Cristiano Ronaldo, whose frustration at his own fitness and his team-mates has been plain to see.
"We're probably just an average team," he said. "I'd be lying if I said we were a top team."

They have a real uphill struggle to overhaul the Americans in second place as they need a five-goal swing to rectify an inferior goal difference incurred after that thrashing by Germany.
Ghana's chances are much more positive. Although they must win and hope the Germans beat the USA, they have a much better goal difference and are in better form than the Portuguese, as their superb second-half display against Germanyshowed.
However, an unseemly row between the squad and the Ghanaian FA has broken out over appearance fees which has cast a show over this fixture.
Ghana's government is sending more than $3m in cash on a chartered plane to Brazil for the squad as the players have refused the option of having it wired to them.
In a statement, the Ghanaian FA said President John Dramani Mahama "personally spoke to the players" to assure them they will be paid their money.
Ghana's camp was also rocked earlier this week by a report in the Daily Telegraph newspaper which accused the Ghanaian FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi of agreeing to fix matches, which he has strenuously denied.
MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

  • Ghana and Portugal have never met in an international match.
Portugal

  • The draw with the USA represented the first time Portugal had failed to win a World Cup match after taking the lead.
  • They have won only one of their last nine World Cup games (D4, L4).
  • Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 11 goals in his last 10 matches for Portugal, but none in his last three. He had seven shots against USA, but only one was on target.
  • He is the only player in Portugal's squad with more than one World Cup goal. Hugo Almeida, Raul Meireles, Nani and Silvestre Varela have one.
  • Nani's goal against USA was the first scored by Portugal in a World Cup match for 276 minutes.
  • Portugal recorded a pass accuracy of 88.1% against USA, their best rate in a World Cup game since such records began in 1966.
Ghana

  • Ghana are one of only four teams to have taken part in more than one World Cup and not been eliminated in the group stage - along with Germany, Netherlands and Republic of Ireland.
  • Asamoah Gyan should make his 11th World Cup appearance, which would equal the African record held by Francois Omam Biyik of Cameroon.
  • Gyan has five World Cup goals and needs one more to overtake Roger Milla as the all-time top African goalscorer at the tournament. He is the only African to have scored in three World Cups.

  • Ghana could progress to the last 16 if they beat Portugal and Germany beat the Americans. However, should the US lose by one goal and Ghana win with the same scoreline then the US would go through by virtue of their better head-to-head record against the Black Stars. USA could also go through on goals scored if they are in a high scoring match.
  • The Africans could also qualify at the expense of the Germans if compatriot Jurgen Klinsmann's United States side record a large victory.
  • Portugal, who needed a last-minute equaliser against the US to avoid being knocked out, must beat Ghana and overturn a five-goal difference on the Americans.

Algeria v Russia

[h=2]2014 FIFA WORLD CUP[/h]
  • Venue: Arena da Baixada, Curitiba
  • Date: Thursday 26 June
  • Kick-off: 21:00 BST

[h=2]TEAM NEWS[/h]Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic could name the same starting XI that beat South Korea.
Islam Slimani should lead the line once again, with Tottenham's Nabil Bentaleb in midfield.
Russia coach Fabio Capello is under pressure to replace the misfiring Alexander Kokorin with Aleksandr Kerzhakov up front.
Alan Dzagoev may also win a recall in midfield but right-back Aleksei Kozlov is an injury doubt.
[h=2]MATCH PREVIEW[/h]Algeria held Fabio Capello's England to a goalless draw in the group stage of the last World Cup; a similar result against his Russia team this time around should secure a place in the knockout stage for the first time - barring an emphatic South Korea win in the group's other game.
The African side have waited 32 years for this moment since cruelly being denied a place in the second round by West Germany's controversial 1-0 win over neighbours Austria in 1982, a result that enabled both countries to advance.
That match, known as the 'Disgrace in Gijon', is part of World Cup folk law and is the reason why the final group matches now take place simultaneously.

Both Russia and Algeria control their own destiny. A Russia win will put them through, provided South Korea don't beat Belgium by a bigger margin.
Algeria probably only require a point following their 4-2 triumph over South Korea, when they became the first African nation to score four World Cup goals.
Midfielder Yacine Brahimi believes playing attacking football is the only way for Algeria to progress. He said: "We played some very attacking football (against South Korea) and we need to repeat that, to keep our calm and play some good football."
Capello has naturally been keen to distance himself from any comparisons between the England-Algeria match four years ago. He is the Russian FA's chosen one ahead of the next World Cup, which they host. The Italian is trying to blood young talent ahead of that tournament but it has all proved too much for 2018 poster boy Alexander Kokorin so far.
The Russian press are urging Capello to turn to striker Aleksandr Kerzhakov to keep their hopes alive. The 31-year-old is one goal away from becoming Russia's outright leading goalscorer, but is considered too old for 2018.
[h=2]MATCH FACTS[/h]Head-to-head

  • This will be their second meeting. The first, a 1964 friendly, ended in a 2-2 draw.
Algeria

  • Algeria ended a run of seven World Cup matches without a win by beating South Korea in their last game (D2, L5).
  • All five of Algeria's goals in Brazil have been scored by different players.
  • Algeria can record back-to-back World Cup matches for the first time in their history.
  • The Desert Foxes have only won one of seven World Cup games against European opposition (D2, L4). That was their first ever match at the tournament, a 2-1 win over West Germany in 1982.
  • The last eight World Cup goals conceded by Algeria have come after half-time.
Russia

  • Russia won both meetings against African sides in their two previous World Cups: 6-1 against Cameroon in 1994 and 2-0 versus Tunisia in 2002.
  • Russia are without a win in four World Cup group games (D1, L3).
  • If Russia do not win it will be the first time they or the Soviet Union have failed to record a World Cup group-stage victory. This is their 10th tournament.
  • Russia are in danger of not scoring in back-to-back World Cup matches for the first time. However, the Soviet Union lost 2-0 to both Romania and Argentina at the 1990 World Cup.
  • Eight of the last nine World Cup goals shipped by Russia have arrived after half time.

South Korea v Belgium

[h=2]2014 FIFA WORLD CUP[/h]
  • Venue: Arena de Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo
  • Date: Thursday 26 June
  • Kick-off:21:00 BST

[h=2]TEAM NEWS[/h]South Korea coach Hong Myung-Bo criticised his defence following the 4-2 defeat to Algeria and may opt for a reshuffle.
QPR left-back Yun Suk-Young could be a casualty, as could shot-shy striker Park Chu-Young of Arsenal.
Belgium may hand a start to striker Divock Origi, who could replace the out-of-form Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgians are already through to the last 16 so coach Marc Wilmots is likely to rest players on a yellow card.
[h=2]MATCH PREVIEW[/h]The old football adage of winning when you're not playing well certainly applies to Belgium at this World Cup. Marc Wilmots' side may have qualified with a game to spare but they have been far from impressive.
Fans at the Maracana on Sunday were heard booing and heckling his side, while the foreign media have also taken aim, accusing his Red Devils of being more of a pony than dark horse for the tournament.
Wilmots has defended his multi-talented side in the wake of such criticism, saying: "Pretty, pretty, pretty makes no one happy."
"We are tactically very disciplined and we have needed to be patient. It's not about being beautiful - but about being effective," he added.
Striker Romelu Lukaku cut a frustrated figure in their last match and reacted angrily to be being substituted.
His replacement, 19-year-old Divock Origi, got the winner, becoming the youngest World Cup scorer since Lionel Messi in 2006 in the process.

The fact that all three of Belgium's goals so far have come from substitutes will concern yet also please Wilmots.
While it proves his side have struggled to break the opposition down, it also emphasises their strength in depth.
On the evidence of South Korea's opening two games, Wilmots should not be overly concerned about breaking them down.
Coach Hong-Myung-Bo selected a young squad for this World Cup with one eye on the future and it has proved a steep learning curve so far. They can still reach the last 16 but must beat Belgium and hope Russia also defeat Algeria, but by a smaller winning margin.
Defensive problems have dogged their build-up and undermined their campaign . Hong finally lost his patience in the aftermath of their capitulation against Algeria and has publically spoken out.
He said: "The defence wasn't what it should have been, our players were not up to standard. I would like to apologise to the Korean fans and I promise we will do our best for the next match."
[h=2]MATCH FACTS[/h]Head-to-head

  • The is the fourth time Belgium have faced South Korea and they are so far yet to lose (W2, D1).
  • Belgium won 2-0 at the 1990 World Cup, with the two countries also drawing 1-1 in the group stages of the 1998 World Cup.
  • Belgium beat the Taeguk Warriors 2-1 in a friendly in June 1999. Sandy Martens scored both of Belgium's goals.
South Korea

  • South Korea have won one of their last seven World Cup group games (D3, L3).
  • Their last World Cup victory was a 2-0 win over Greece in 2010.
  • Twenty four of South Korea's 31 World Cup goals have come after half-time (including one extra-time goal).
  • The Taeguk Warriors have conceded 11 goals in their last four World Cup group matches - they had conceded only six in their previous eight group games.
  • South Korea could become the first Asian country to qualify for the knockout stages on three occasions.
Belgium

  • Marc Wilmots' side are unbeaten in their last 12 competitive matches, a new national record.
  • Belgium have never won three group games at a World Cup before.
  • The Red Devils are unbeaten in eight World Cup group stage games (W3, D5).
  • They have now reached the knockout stages in five of their last six World Cups, the exception being 1998.
  • Belgium's last five World Cup goals have come in the final 20 minutes of matches.
  • Romelu Lukaku has had just two touches of the ball inside the opposition penalty area in 113 minutes of World Cup action so far.
  • The Red Devils' clean sheet against Russia was their first in eight World Cup fixtures.

The Walker Group Picks

# 2 PAPI FREDDIE 2/1

# 5 YCARO 8/1

# 1 CONTRATISTA 3/1

I think about PAPI FREDDIE here. Reason to like this colt as he has in the saddle one of the best jocks using winning percentages over the last month. Will probably compete soundly in the early pace battle which bodes well with this group. Could best this group of horses in this race based on the Equibase Speed Fig - 59 - of his last outing. YCARO - The average Equibase class rating alone makes this one a definite contender. He should definitely be given a chance given the solid speed numbers. CONTRATISTA - The winning percentage shown by horses entered by Vizcarrondo running at this distance are the strongest in this field.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 2 CAPTAIN CHRIS 4/1

# 5 HI POPPY 6/5

# 4 HURLING 5/2

I think CAPTAIN CHRIS is a quite good choice. Has solid early speed and will most likely fare soundly against this field. Could beat this group of animals given the 80 speed rating garnered in his last outing. A solid 89 avg Equibase class figure may give this gelding a distinct class edge against this group of horses. HI POPPY - With a sound jock who has won at a solid 17 percent rate over the last month. This has to be one of the top picks. With a decent 75 speed figure last time out, will definitely be a factor in this contest. HURLING - He has been moving quite well recently while recording very strong Speed Figures. Have to look at solely on class, with some of the strongest class figures of this group of horses in this race.

#10 PERFECTLY AT HOME (ML=6/1)
#3 FLATTERMEJIM (ML=5/2)

PERFECTLY AT HOME - The way this clash sets up this gelding will be in the 'garden' spot when they hit the top of the stretch. Ranked at the top in earnings per start. Another notice that this horse has the class to win today. FLATTERMEJIM - If you review the PP's for this horse, you'll see he has recorded the top speed fig at the distance and surface. A repeat effort in this event and this horse has a superb chance to win. This horse coming off a solid try in the last month is a win candidate in my opinion. This horse has a lot of class. A good sign in a turf race like we have today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #11 ADULARE (ML=3/1), #9 START UP (ML=5/1), #7 RIDGE CITY (ML=6/1),

ADULARE - In the last race this horse finished fifth. Doesn't bode well for his chances this time around. START UP - You think this equine is going to be victorious just because he's always close. Just doesn't get the job done often. RIDGE CITY - You always figure that this animal has a shot to be victorious, but he falls short often. Have to be leery of the recent trend and awesome Equibase speed figure in the May 31st affair. It was this gelding's best at that distance and this one should bounce today. This gelding garnered a speed fig in his last event which probably isn't good enough in today's event.

Charles Town - Race #7 - Post: 9:44pm - Maiden Special - 4.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $26,000 Class Rating: 54

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#7 SO HELP ME HANNAH (ML=5/2)
#12 LONG KISS GOODBYE (ML=4/1)

SO HELP ME HANNAH - The 76 latest race speed figure looks good on paper. Was in a Maiden Special race at Laurel Park in the last race. That affair had a class rating of 73 and she is moving down in this race. A certain contender. Capuano enters this one in a spot where she should fit well based on her last two Equibase speed figures. LONG KISS GOODBYE - I have to like this filly's winning probability at the shorter distance. The rider/conditioner twosome of Acosta and McMahon has a strong return on investment together. Have to make this filly a solid contender; she comes off a nice effort on June 8th.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 DREAMS OF VISION (ML=7/2), #11 ITALIAN DELIGHT (ML=5/1), #4 LEMON SUGAR (ML=5/1),

DREAMS OF VISION - Don't think that this filly has value at 7/2 today. ITALIAN DELIGHT - Hard to bet on a questionable contender that lays up for a long time then doesn't land in the money off the extended layoff. This filly hasn't had any recent accomplishments in short distance races. Not easy to bet on her in this race. There's zip, zip, and more early speed in this event. Doesn't seem too promising for this equine. LEMON SUGAR - You believe this animal is going to finish first just because she's always close. Just doesn't win often. Finished fourth last time. Would have to improve to finish in the money in today's event. Recorded a mediocre speed figure in the last race in a Maiden Special race on June 5th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that figure.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - SO HELP ME HANNAH - Advancing each step of the way, this steed has recorded significant increases in her speed figures over her last two events.

12.0 FURLONGS TURF FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $75,000.00 PURSE

#6 CUSTOMER BASE
#4 PLAZA DE INDIAS
#3 CHANGETHECHANNEL
#7 PLAYFUL HUMOR

#6 CUSTOMER BASE is the pace profile leader in this stakes field this afternoon racing at, or about, 12.0 furlongs on the turf, takes a class drop (-8), and has produced "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in five straight starts, facing better company in each of those outings, hitting the board in a pair, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in her 4th race back. Jockey Mike Smith and Trainer Thomas Proctor send her to the post for the "Thursday Feature" ... they've hit the board with an even 50% of their entries saddled as a team to date. #4 PLAZA DE INDIAS, a Chilean-bred entry, is 8-1 in the morning line, and has turned in "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in each of her last four starts.

# 5 SHELLYSSILVERMOON 5/2

# 1 HARE TO ETERNITY 10/1

# 2 STONEBRIDGE SUPERB 10/1

SHELLYSSILVERMOON looks competitive to best this field. Overall statistics look really strong. Can't throw her out of the picture. Horoscope said take a chance today, this harness racer is as good as any to take a shot with. Most likely the class of the field of starters with an average rating of 68. A nice pick. HARE TO ETERNITY - Feel the need for speed, this interesting entrant has been turning in some top notch TrackMaster SRs averaging around 69. The number crunching team gives this horse a respectable chance to come home a winner, class ratings are tops in the bunch. STONEBRIDGE SUPERB - The wagering panel can't help but give the nod to this harness racer because the internal pace figures fit well here at Mohawk Racetrack.

# 4 EARTHSHAKER 6/5

# 2 M T THE BANC 4/1

# 1 KENNEDY BLUE CHIP 8/1

Really keen on the likelihood of EARTHSHAKER taking down the winner's share this time. Has nice speed ratings and definitely has to be considered for a wager this time. Had one of the most compelling TrackMaster Speed Ratings of the group in his last outing. I'd recommend using in your bets. Post 4 has been winning at a well above average stat, suggesting respectable probability of success this time. M T THE BANC - That 68 TrackMaster Speed Rating clocked in the most recent race puts this interesting entrant in the mix in this one. KENNEDY BLUE CHIP - Starters win from this position at Saratoga Harness with better than average regularity, suggesting this excellent wager.

DRF HARNESS

Race 4 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet: SHELLYSSILVERMOON (10th)

Spot Play: DREAM ROCKER (3rd)

Race 1

(6) MASSIVE POCKETS has trotted a pair of sub-1:56 miles in each of his last two starts, which makes him a top threat for this Grassroots division. (5) JACK LITTEN moved into the McNair barn following his April 21 start at Pompano Park in Florida and has responded nicely with a pair of third-place finishes in two starts. (10) HOPE FOR JUSTICE tried his luck out in the Gold Series on May 30 at Western Fair, but made a miscue twice in the mile.

Race 2

(3) FLOAT ON BY has been spoken highly off all winter by her trainer and co-owner Dave Menary. She was a $32K yearling purchase from the Lexington Selected Yearling sale and certainly will get a lot of attention in her career debut. (8) SPORTS CHIC is also hard not to like based on her 1:54 4/5 winning qualifier. Trainer Macintosh elected to qualify this youngster twice and she continues to improve with each trip behind the gate. (5) I WONDER WHY captured her qualifying effort in 1:59 while doing so on the front-end. She draws in the middle of the gate and comes from Hall of Famer McIntosh.

Race 3

(7) DREAM ROCKER was assigned an outside post last week and closed very well to finish fifth. He trotted home in :28 while being individually timed in 1:56 4/5. (3) MAGIC IS COOL went to the back in his first start of the season from post 10 and used a :27 4/5 final quarter. Last week, in his second start, he drew inside and make the most of it with a second-place finish in 1:56 1/5 at 50-1. (1) R CHOOCHOO CHARLIE made a miscue last start and will look for a turnaround effort with a post one start.

Race 4

(7) DESIGNER GENES was assigned post 10 last start and wasn't a factor. Driver Christoforou gave her an inside trip and used the rail to their advantage. She had plenty of trot late in the mile while running out of real estate. (8) ZORGWIJK JOCK was the winner last week in this class and will look to double up. (6) PROTEGE SEELSTER enjoyed a mini vacation and qualified back on May 17 & May 19. He raced in a pair of condition events before trainer Johnson elected to race him in a claiming event last week.

Race 5

(10) CAVIART GRIFFIN made up all kinds of ground in his latest from a post 10 start. He was parked the mile and closed from ninth-to-second with a :27 3/5 final quarter. (8) WARRAWEE PREFERRED comes out of the Henriksen barn and showed a better effort in his latest. (11) DOWEBETUMNHOWE was the heavy favourite in his latest at Georgian Downs and he didn't disappoint with a 1:59 winning effort by over five lengths.

Race 6

(5) EXHILARATED put forth her best effort of the season last start with a second-place finish at the Grassroots level. (4) MEA LILLEY MARK is hard not to consider in the top two after finishing second in each of her last two starts. She has been assigned outside post positions in each of her last four starts and finally draws a favourable post. (7) RIVETING dropped down in class last week and was a game second for trainer Adams after a first-over grind.

Race 7

(3) RAMAS LAST SON scored the minor upset in his latest start in this Grassroots level. He starts from a good post once again and certainly appreciated the post relief in his latest. (4) KREMLIN was won two straight and has been very impressive. (8) WINDSUN REVENGE has a credible record this season and will debut on lasix for trainer Durham.

Race 8

(6) RED SOLO CUP was an impressive winner last start while being parked past the half en route to a 1:56 lifetime best. (1) LUCKY MASS received a terrific trip last start from MacDonald to earn a new lifetime best. (4) MASSIVE MUSCLES made his sophomore debut at Western Fair in the Gold Series, but unfortunately made a break in stride.

Race 9

(3) PASSED DAT POINT was an impressive winner in his latest at Georgian Downs when he scored an open length win in 1:57 4/5. (8) IMPRESSIVE CHIEF has one victory from three starts this season and ships in from the US. (9) SNOWSON is fresh off a win at Grand River in gate-to-wire fashion. He'll have to overcome post nine in here, but has displayed his versatility and gets Henry in the bike once again.

Race 10

(5) SHELLYSSILVERMOON was charted being 23 lengths off the leader at the opening quarter in her latest effort and closed to finish second, beaten a length for the win from a post 10 start. (2) STONEBRIDGE SUPERB draws inside and also closed very well in her latest for trainer Sims. She has a good record this season and is back on a seven-day rotation. (9) BIG THREAT has been finishing off her miles very well in her last two starts.

Yonkers: Thursday 6/26 Analysis
By Derick Giwner

DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 14 - 36 / $68.10 BEST BETS: 3 - 3 / $10.70

Best Bet: THISTHATNTHEOTHER (8th)

Spot Play: BABE’S BISTRO (3rd)

Race 1

(4) BLACK MAGIC EYES drops back down and finds dull foes to her inside. She should be able to control the action. (8) YUMMY SUSHI came back with two decent early speed qualifiers and might be able to leave for position. (6) IF I DIDN'T CARE passed some horses at Tioga and might be a braver horse in her Yonkers return.

Race 2

(4) WHERE TO HANOVER arrives back on the Hilltop at a reduced level and gets Brian Sears at the controls. (3) BREW MASTER is a shipper with some early zip and a top pilot. (2) CANADIAN OVERALL was used early in the mile last time and finished up evenly. With a smoother early journey, he may have a bit more in the tank at the end.

Race 3

(1) BABE'S BISTRO changes barns and is another adding Sears to the team. The last time this owner switched trainers a few of his horses woke up nicely. (7) I KNOW NOTHING double-drops in class and qualified very well. That said, why did Bartlett opt off to drive (2) LITTLE MERMAID. The latter has an inside post and early speed.

Race 4

(2) DUTCH RICHMAN is back at the level of the claim two starts back and faces a non-winners class. This looks like a winning spot. (4) EAGLE NOW was facing tougher the last time he was seen here; adds Sears. (7) LOCKLOADNEXPLODE is a proven commodity at this condition.

Race 5

(8) RINGSIDE MUSCLE would normally be a toss at Yonkers from post eight, but the added distance should give Brennan the opportunity to make the front or find a good seat. (7) IMA QUE T drops down to the level of her last win; very dangerous. (1) NEWPORT VOLO moves into a new barn. If he keeps his form, he'll compete.

Race 6

(2) GREYSTONE CASH gets a better post to work with while facing a very suspect bunch. (4) PRESTISSIMO could be flying off the wings of the gate and would be tough to beat if left alone. (5) BOOTS N BOURBON bested a similar group two start back.

Race 7

(4) ROYAL KNOCKOUT freefalls down the class ladder and figures to find renewed life. (6) BELLE BOYD put together a big 3-year-old year but has been having trouble finding her way against older foes. Perhaps the change of scenery will do her good. (7) SOCIAL SCENE is in a similar boat to the previously mentioned mare. Maybe Brennan can wake her up from the slumber.

Race 8

(2) THISTHATNTHEOTHER ships into a great spot and should be pointed down the road. (5) MY IDEAL was racing very well in this class when last here. (1) TIGER BOUDOIR could find some early zip and be a factor from the pylons.

Race 9

(2) MC RUSTY moves into a high percentage barn and figures to bring an improved effort. (1) SIX GUN draws inside and adds Sears; plenty to like. (6) NORTHERN BREAKOUT drops down the claiming ladder and could show more.

Race 10

(1) TALKTOMECOURAGE N was a decent second last time and gets to start from pylon position. Perhaps the inside post will help brave this veteran up. (3) PUTNAMS ATTACK moves into a barn which could certain perk this guy back to his form from a few starts back. (4) LULU'S BOY drops down and adds Sears.

Race 11

(6) KAMWOOD LAUGHTER N drops down a notch and while not a great play to win, could step up at a big mutuel in a wide-open race. (8) VENUS DELIGHT lured Bartlett off two inside horses; interesting. (5) GRACE SEELSTER was a bit flat last time but looks capable.

Race 12

(1) MISS ANNIE J returns to Yonkers at a reduced level and should be tough from the inside post. (5) MACH THIS WAY has speed and form. (2) FLYING MOCHA could be an interesting player if over whatever caused the Scratched-Injured line.
