Good luck Smooth...

Hey, a buddy and I were planning to take in a weekend of racing at the Meadowlands in April, but he took a new job yesterday so we are putting it off until summer. Is it worth it? We hit the Chicago tracks (I live in southern Wisconsin, he lives in northern Illinois), but we want to see the Meadowlands. We'd probably arrive Friday afternoon, watch the Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday afternoons cards and fly back Sunday night after hitting NYC during the day Saturday. Thanks for any input.

Arnie,

That sounds like a great weekend. I havent been to The Meadowlands...yet, but I plan to go sometime. It's the cat's ass for Harness Racing (that's a good thing).

I hear Arlington is amazing....is that true?

Hennie,

Arlington is great. The nicest thoroughbred track I've been to, but I haven't been to that many (five or six). Unlike most tracks, it's in a nice neighborhood and the Metra train stops right at its front door. It's worth going to.

You may want to check the schedule, I think the Sunday racing ends in April or May. It really is the premier harness venue and not that far up the Turnpike from Newark Airport. I'd suggest renting a car since you really can't walk from any local hotel to the track. I don't spend much time in the clubhouse but I hear that it is pretty nice (I generally hang out on the second floor of the grandstand - it's smoke free up there). The Pegasus is a nice place to eat there, but a bit pricy. Let me know when you are heading up, I'll try to meet up with you guys.

That's right. I forgot that doesn't run the entire meet. No matter. Thanks for the info. I'll keep you informed.
