MINNESOTA +1.65 over Detroit (REG)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
This choice is all about playing against the Red Wings in a game they’ll likely show up for in body only. The Red Wings are the champs and they showed why in the Winter Classic in front of one of the largest audiences in NHL history, both in attendance and on TV. They were struggling a bit before back-to-back games with the Hawks but once again, when it counted most, they showed who is boss. In a similar situation at that time, the hyped up game vs San Jose ended with Detroit thumping them 6-0. Make no mistake, once again the Red Wings are the team to beat and they showed why. Now, after games against Colorado and Chicago twice, and playing in the most hyped up NHL game, possibly ever and including playoffs, the Wings will play a meaningless game to them in Minnesota. For the Red Wings, it’s a “who gives a crap” game. For the Wild, it’ll be their biggest game of the year. So, this game is predicated on a big letdown for the Wings, while the X-Cel Energy Center crowd will be in a frenzied state. Wild will absolutely show up here and make this one a game for sure with an absolute good chance of winning. Overlay. Play: Minnesota +1.65 (Risking 2 units).

Dallas +1.10 over EDMONTON
The Stars are coming on big time and this is a team you really don’t want to bet against right now. They’ve been gaining steam for about a month and they were dominating in its last four games. That includes their best performance of the year last game in which they beat the Devils and out-shot them 44-27. In fact, over its last four games the Stars have allowed 22, 22, 19 and 27 shots on net. One of those games were against the high-flying Sharkies in which they lost but allowed just 19 shots on net in that 3-1 (an empty netter) defeat. Now the Stars will embark on a four-game trip with three games in Western Canada, thus making the first one an important one. Players always insist that the first game of a trip is the most important and thus, you can expect this team to come out strong again. The Oilers are very beatable, they're erratic and inconsistent and they definitely cannot be trusted as a favorite over the surging Stars. Play: Dallas +1.10 (Risking 2 units).

ST. LOUIS +1.06 over Columbus
Wow. The Jackets have allowed an incredible one goal against in its last four games after beating the Av’s 6-1 in Colorado last night. However, this is a very tough spot for them, as they’ll play its third game in four nights and the tail end of back-to-backs. It’s also the Jackets fifth game in seven nights and their fourth in a row on the road. It also comes after playing two games on the west coast and a game last night in the high altitude of Denver. This is about as tough as it gets in terms of a grueling schedule and with four wins in a row, the Jackets should be running strictly on fumes here. The Blue Notes played in Carolina last night and they played a strong game, despite losing 2-1. They were all over the Canes in the final period and they’ll absolutely be the more energized team in this one. Give the Jackets plenty of credit for a strong run but it ends here in an assignment that would be difficult for even the best teams of teams and the Jackets don’t qualify for that just yet. Wrong side favored. Play: St. Louis +1.06 (Risking 2 units).
