Of course I'm taking Bama lightly….they suck. Why do people have such a tough time accepting that? Have you actually watched a Bama game this year? Do you know how thin they are on BOTH lines? Do you have any idea? Do you know how few scholarship players they have? Do you know that their QB's are both banged up? We're talking about a team that got crushed by Georgia and Ole Miss. We're talking about a team that hasn't beaten a single SEC team with a winning record. Its SEC wins have come against Kentucky and stinkin' Mississippi State. We're talking about a team that lost at home to Northern Illinois for God's sake. We're talking about a team that has an offense ranked 70th in the country and a defense ranked about 30th. They lost the heart of their team from last year. And, PLEASE, don’t point to the damn Oklahoma game from 508 months ago. Oklahoma is not the same team now that it was then and neither is Bama. Oklahoma has gelled and Bama has just gotten beat up. If you think Bama would lose to Oklahoma by 7 now, you are smoking crack. Hey, what do you know… LSU is even ranked somewhat higher than Bammer…..go figure. Does anyone here deny that LSU is a much better team than Bama? Anyone? If we bring our A game, we'll beat them by 30. If we bring our B game, we'll beat them by 14. If we bring our C or D game, we'll still beat them by 7. The only real opponent LSU faces is itself…..period. And I'm not going to sit around here wringing my panties anticipating that LSU is going to come out and play poorly…not after having already made that mistake this year. It amazes me that we are ranked friggin NUMBER 3 in the country, facing a squad that has been decimated by injuries and is 4-6, and ANYONE would rationalize a loss.

Now, lets talk motivation….

LAST YEAR a guy (LSU fan actually) made up a supposed post-game speech given by Saban the week before the Bama game. In the "speech", Saban put down the Bama team yada yada yada....well, Francione got a hold of it and preached it to his team like the gospel. Following their trouncing of us, Francione, along with some of his players (including Shaud Williams) confronted coach Saban during the post-game handshake and had some not too nice words for Nick concerning the "speech". Last night on his weekly radio show Coach Saban said the internet debacle was the most embarrassing thing that has happened to him personally in his coaching career…..with the way the coaches AND players from Alabama responded to him following the game. Does this sound like a man who has forgotten? I don't think so...there will be a very vocal pre-game speech delivered in Tuscalooser this Saturday and payback is gonna be a severe.

-6.5 seems to easy, When I saw it I about shit.

I ran my numbers and got an LSU blowout, but I got that with the Colts last night and we saw what happened.

Something just aint right.

I guess the argument could be made that this team is the predominately the same team that waxed LSU at home last year, so that is what is keeping this line down, or strength of schedule, or that Shula finally has gotten his team on the same page after so many coaching changes. I dont know. I know that Bama wont be running much on that salty run defense and I dont think Croyle can win it in the air. SHould be low scoring on Bamas part, and LSU will score, as this Bama defense is nothing like last years dominating D-line, losing Kenny King and others. One hit on Croyle could put him out for the game leaving the 3rd stringer. Could be a disaster. I expect a huge public lean on LSU.

Bama won in Baton Rouge 31-0

I love the payback angle here Pete but what bothers me is the following week...they won't be peeking ahead to Eli and company?

I may play it...but small...they are just way too talented to not cover under a TD against Bama.

Nice write up. I think the extra motivation for Saban and that deal last year is the kind of stuff we're looking for here. I like LSU in this spot too. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

SB,

That is exactly the reason I posted this write-up.....for you yankees that don't realize the level of red-ass that the LSU faithful have for Bama. During the Bear Bryant years, we had very talented teams that would lose to Bama every year. Of course the Bear was smart enough to schedule a bye week prior to the annual dog fight...and we usually had a tough-ass SEC game the week before. To add insult to injury, the Bear once said "if I had that Louisiana talent I would win the National Championship every year". Bama is a HATED rival and there is NO way that LSU misses a chance to drill them in the ass!

well 31-0 is without a doubt a revenge game especially considering it was at home. The only thing that concerns me is that it will probably be one of those games that everyone is on one side, which would be LSU.those dont cash to often but we shall see.

Another game where you can thank Mike Shula for giving you an early retirement.
Let's see the line is:
LSU -6.5 Bama

The coaching line is:
Saban -22 Shula

Folks, Mike Shula is a moron!

You Yankees...that's funny Pete. My best friend of 26 years has lived most of his life in Baton Rouge and is an LSU alum. Enough of the banter:

I have been on LSU and cashed most of the year. I like the revenge factor for them and (right now) I like Ole Miss the following week a lot as well. We'll have to see what happens.

Good luck.

Will agree with you on this bet Pete...THe Home Team in this series is not the one to bet on....Hopefully no letdown for the defense after the bye week...Geaux Tigers!

Pete,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. As usual, your game write-ups are thoughtful and offer excellent insight. In my opinion, this is what a Forum is all about. Win, Lose or Draw.....GREAT JOB.

I think you are right on the money with this one. I'm predicting Alabama keeps it close early but in the end LSU 35-21

LSU Pete-I was actually going to write you to start discussing this game.Agree with everything you said-Alabama is thin on both lines,Croyle will have surgery at year's end,etc.etc.I am a big Bama fan,but this week I will be on LSU.

Just wanted to emphasize the point that in NO WAY does LSU look past BAMA this week to OLE MISS.

LSU has been fortunate to play its toughest games at home so far (with only three cupcake road games to-date), but they are a very good team. IMO, LSU is the play this week but it wont be a blowout. LSU is just far more talented.
