This may sound crazy, but I don't like to "spoil" the NFL season by watching too many preseason games......

If your a true NFL fan, you have an idea of what I'm talking about here. It's kind of like saving that last, biggest or best present to open during Christmas.

I know there is some money to be made during preseason, but you can feel the season in the air and I dont want to get burnt out on useless preseason games.

pretty much the same way I feel, I'm going small on full game lines, but if I see a 2nd half I may go a little bigger. I use the preseason as a tune-up, you have less than 10 minutes to decide on a 2nd half, then line shop, and when there are multiple games it gets a little crazy. I remember watching some of the preseason games last year, and asking myself "isn't football better than this?". I like NCAA football a lot more during the regular season, but the NFL still kicks ass.

I honestly don't understand, guys. I'm as big a fan as there is but I don't get the burnout issue, especially when the football season is the shortest of all the major sports. Betting preseason is a different animal anyway. It might as well be two different sports. There's no correlation between the preseason and regular season so why not take the opportunity to stack some chips.

You have to watch it to get a good feel on what direction some teams are going in the upcoming season.

Chad, sorry, but I have to disagree when you or anyone says that having to watch teams in preseason is a must to get an "idea" on where the teams are headed that year. How often have we seen teams go 4-0 in preseason and look impressive, only to end up with dismal seasons.

I'm not referring to their records. Mostly I mean the individual players and the coaches. So you know what kind of gameplan the coach prefers and what players match up well with others. I don't think you have to in order to be successful. Just me personally I think I do. You really would need to if you were just a trend better.

I respectfully disagree - I think preseason is a different kind of game and requires a different approach; as a metter of fact, the complete season is broken into 6 distinct sub-seasons:
Preseason
First 4 games (September)
Games 5 through 10(warm weather games)(Oct into November)
Games 8 throgh 14 (cold weather games)(November into December)
The last 3 games (play off positioning)
Postseason

How can you burn out when each phase requires a differnet approach and mindset?

Good luck!
