THIS is the chilling moment a deranged mother held a revolver to her unsuspecting son's head at a shooting range and pulled the trigger.

The woman killed him before turning the gun on herself.

Marie Moore, who thought she was the Anti-Christ, took her 20-year-old son Mitchell to the Shoot Straight range in Casselberry, Florida, for what he thought was an afternoon's firing practice, the Daily Mail reports.

But as he concentrated on the target in front of him, his 44-year-old mother picked up a gun, pointed it at the back of his head and murdered him at point-blank range.

Mitchell slumped to the floor dead as his mother stepped back, placed the gun in her mouth and again pulled the trigger. She died a short time later in hospital.

'I'm so sorry. I had to send my son to heaven and myself to Hell,' she wrote in a suicide note.

Then, the shocking moment Moore raises her rented gun and aims it at the back of her unsuspecting son's head.

Mitchell collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood as Marie lowers her gun - then steps back beyond the range of the camera and shoots herself.

The man in the booth next to the mother and son realises what has happened and yells for help.

This stuff is starting to get old. I'm beginning to have the opinion that if you want to purchase a firearm of any kind, then you your medical records, especially your mental records should be opened before you're allowed to purchase a gun.

I'd love to know how many *innocent* folks need to die before we can all at least speculate that perhaps the country would be better without allowing civilians access to guns... because that way, I wouldn't have to bother anyone with my ridiculous belief that while people kill people (as opposed to guns killing people) it would be a lot tougher for this bitch to stab her son to death than SHOOT him... Similarly I'm fairly certain the assholes at Columbine, Vtech, or Red Lake would not have been able to take so many lives without firearms. While they may have acquired their firearms illegally in the first place, the establishments they acquired them from would most likely not exist if it were illegal for all citizens to carry firearms. ...So give me a number, and I'll stay out of conversations revolving around gun control until then.

I agree...I'm getting very tired of this wild west mentality this country has. Just settle all of your problems with guns. I prefer to not give these crazy people the easy way out. And more importantly not to take 20 of us at a time with them when they decide to do themselves in. I like Chris Rock's idea of gun control. Make the cost of buying a bullet $2,000.
