thought this was going to happen sooner than later. Never a good thing to get your review at the end of the day. With my vacation time and severance (sp) pay I will get check all the way to April 16th.

Now I can start the next part of my life. A job has never defined who I was. I feel sorry for the people that are not prepared for this.

LOL Still wish I would have gotten that condo.

Look at it as a new start and now you can look into doing things you probably wanted to do all along

Hopefully one day you can look back at today as one of the greatest days of your life and you know I mean that in the best way possibile.

I left my last job on my own and it was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. Make the best of this.

Just means more time for cards now. We just need to get the wife on board with this one!!

Well I have been preparing for this for about a year. 20g's in the bank and the wife is working, she makes the money in the house. I will still be looking at different things out there and there is always some way to make some money.

LOL They even gave me a bonus on top of that. LOL My department is pretty much toast. I didn't see a future at this place anyway.

So much different from our fathers time, when most worked one job 30 years then retired from it. I bet I wont have more than a handful of friends who will be with the same company 30+ years and retire from it.

How many years did you have in there TRS?

we have butt heads in the past, but I'm truly sorry about this. I hate to see anyone, let alone a fellow rx'er lose their job.

Is your wife's income sufficient enough to keep the mortgage + living expenses? Or will you be working a negative cash flow until the 20K is gone or you have another job?

We could make it on one salary if we had too. We have 1 car paid off and my truck has 2 more payments. House payment is a little over 1000. WE live pretty simple lives.

if your wife can cover the bills (even if barely)....might be a good time to start working part time and play poker part time (livin' your dream).

Hell, you technically are getting paid til 4/16/09 so you have a few months to give poker a shot....I think if u seriously think you have what it takes, the free checks til mid april should allow for you to get in a good 1-2 months of full time poker without affecting much (unless you go on a mega-bad run)

makes my jaw drop. Looking at houses here and a decent-lower end house will have me and the woman looking at $3000+ monthly payments not including prop tax or anything besides actual mortgage.

Sorry to hear. I recently had to get out of a commissioned sales position, and I'm going to have to get a 2nd job if I want to make any money.

There is an Arizona game this weekend, if you want to go all-in on it. It worked out well for the last guy.

Sorry to hear that RightSide. I remember when I got laid off back in 04. That same day the A's vs BoSox were playing game 2 or 3 in an afternoon playoff game. Headed right to the stadium and bought a reduced price scalped ticket!!

Word of advice, don't let the vacation time get too comforting. Always keep your eyes and ears open for opportunity. April 16th will come in an eyeblink.

Best of luck out there. Heck if you found that one deal on the condo, it's guaranteed there's another one. GUARANTEED!! There's tons and tons of saturation (therefore opportunity) out there in the market.
