You can never say an election is over because you never know if something big is gonna happen. But it's pretty clear that all of the swings McCain has taken so far have now whiffed and he needs something transformational to have a shot. Maybe he will ditch Palin. That would be mavericky.

I consider McCain is no different than any of the Democrats.

He's a typical Washington insider.

He'd turn his back on hard working Americans and give the country to a bunch of illegal aliens; he'd make sure that the Senate became an incumbent stronghold of "good ole boys and girls"; he'd increase taxes and he'd grow government as much as Bush has.

I find myself in much the same place I did 35 years ago - my party has again deserted me to embrace an ideology I find abhorent. Back then I was able to leave the Democrats and become a Republican - I don't have that option now.

I'm leaving the GOP and I will not cast a vote for the President.

It may have been on the stations we political junkies watch - but what about the regular middle of the spectrum voter who doesn't watch the nightly news - there are a lot of them out there.
