Injury plays

Marshall +21

Here come yet another unpopular play.
Season record 6-1-1

Key injuries
Virginia Tech
WR Jarrett Boykin - hamstring - expected to miss
WR Dyrell Roberts - broken arm - out for the season

I normally don't list players out for the season as important injuries but they are when it will be the teams first game without them. This is the case for Virginia Tech as both of these WR's were hurt in last week's game vs Arkansas ST.

Boykin is Virginia Tech's career leader in receptions with 133 and not only the go-to-guy but the senior leader on offense. Virginia Tech has struggle mightily on offense beating a defensively chalenged East Carolina team 17-10 two weeks ago and beating Arkansas St 26-7 last week. There is no reason to believe that losing two WR's including the school's career leader in receptions will do anything but slow down a passing game that has struggle early on.

Marshall has got pasted twice on the road already but pulled a huge upset of Southern Mississippi at home in their second game. This team historically play well at home in big games (see West Virginia last season, or Southern Miss this season) I think Marshall will load the box with 7-or-8 players to stop the run and dare Virginia Tech to go away from their strengths and throw the ball something they have struggle to do with Boykin and Roberts. Now wtihout them I expect this could be a grind out affair with Virginia Tech winning an ugly game like 23-10 or in that range.

Picks remaining this week
Clemson +2 (relleased Monday)
Florida St will be missing starting QB Manuel and several top WR's
Central Michigan +24 (released Tuesday)
Michigan state will be missing three starting offensive lineman
Marshall +21 (released Friday)

Nba cancelations

The NBA has postponed training camps indefinitely and has canceled 43 preseason games, the Associated Press is reporting.
The league announced Friday that all games from Oct. 9-15 are off and further decisions will be made as warranted. That would affect two Bulls homes games: against Charlotte on Oct. 10 and Minnesota on Oct. 14; and one away game on Oct. 13 against Indiana.
Camps were expected to open Oct. 3.
The cancellations were expected after the latest meeting between owners and players Thursday ended without a collective bargaining agreement. Both sides still hope the entire regular season, scheduled to begin Nov. 1, can be saved.
"We have regretfully reached the point on the calendar where we are not able to open training camps on time and need to cancel the first week of preseason games," deputy commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. "We will make further decisions as warranted."
Commissioner David Stern and union leaders met Thursday in New York. They remain divided on how to resolve a situation that the league says leaves 23 of 30 teams losing money.
