The Shiite majority in Iraq wants an islam republic, but the U.S. government will instead, ensure that essential control devolves into the hands of the moresecular-oriented Sunnis. The U.S does not want Iraq to achieve self- determination as a nation lest it's peoples decide to govern themselves in a way that does not match U.S. interests.
