If you take a break at all, do most do it in the 2 months between NBA and NFL/NCAA?? I know I usually do and save and wait for the offers for NFL foots post up to come out in July...

I would think with only bases that it is a good time for most to take a few months off if they do that??

thoughts?

Not if your're a baseball capper. I like to wait for the BB season to reach mid to late May before doing any serious handicapping. While previous year's stats are important for individual players I believe it takes 40 or 45 games to see how offseason changes are going to effect entire teams these days. With so much player movement there are bound to be a few surprise teams every year - both for the better or for the worse.

Many used to quit for a month or so after the All-Star break, as that is when the calendar is leanest, and also when many MLB teams start to "do da biz" as to make for "fantastic finishes"(the good teams usually are already well headed into playoffs after 81 games), but it really comes down to the individual, and whether winning or not, whether playing their best sport or not, whether or not it is currently a time for betting or booking,etc..

Now until the start of football, is usually a time where mostly only industry types, baseball fanatics, and habituals are involved.

As you know, most prefer College & Pro Foots, along with College Hoops.

i luv betting the nba, but.....

if u treat baseball like the stock market it is extremely profitable over the long haul. baseball has the best value of any of the sports.....but you have to throw away the 1* 2* 3* picks(which shouldnt be used anyhow)

A good rule of thumb for baseball(and all investment style betting)
your units should never be more than 3 % of your bankroll.

ex.
1000 dollar bankroll
units = 30 bucks(do not change the size of your units....like a 4 star play...lol)
adjust the size of your units at the end of the week...based on your bankroll....if at the end of the week your bankroll is at 1200 bucks then move your units to 36 dollars.

What i do is look for games that i feel are a coin flip or better and then I look at the value of the money line/run line. With baseball you will find a lot of coin flip type games with huge value......Aka toronto and KC today

Best of luck....DONT hang it up budy....great time to make money...just not quickly......im off to an unreal start 24.5 units......my line graph is due to come down a little....but ive been saying that for about 8 days :)

For me when the NBA playoffs are over is when I take my 2 months hiatus until the NFL comes back around. I need that time to recuperate and spend quality time with my family especially since the kids are out of school.

I break putting a lot of time into it from late March until early May and then from late August until late October. I play small during the breaks, following others sometimes or just taking shots at a few situations. I definitely get out of the grind though because my heaviest play has been on mid year baseball and hockey (should it ever start again). Playing lots of NBA and some college hoops this year, far more than I have in the past and it has worked out well so far. I don´t get why so many people lay off baseball. I pretty much hate baseball as a spectator, makes the handicapping much better IMO. If you get the emotion or even interest out of it, that should be your best sport. So many people bet on what they get fired up on. Great idea for entertainment value, terrible idea for solid handicapping for most people.

Maybe I just have a low pain tollerence, but 3% sounds pretty high for me. I like to use 1% (or even less sometimes, like 3/4 of a %) for bases with it's high volume and volatility that goes with it. (For example, at one point in this still early this season I was 19-19 but had already had a 7-1 and a 1-7 run!)

I take the time off from betting from the end of the NBA playoffs to the start of football preseason.

However, before the preseason starts I put a lot of time into how I will approach the upcoming football season as far the amount that will be bet weekly during football season. I analyze last year's approach and change accordingly for hopefully the better.

BINGO.

You hit the nail right on the head.

The need to be objective is key to handicapping any sport. Baseball is great in that regard since there is only one team that I like to watch. In that case, I will bet on that team only if the stats back it up, like I would any pick. However, if say a better team is playing my fav team I will just lay off and not take either side.

Meantime big win for Seattle tonight. Ray Allen scores 45 points as the Sonics go up 3 games to 1.
