All those fvkn fouls on the heat early took em out of the game. each time they made a run the refs cooled em down with fouls.

I had the over so I don't care, but I'm starting to become a believer in this conspiracy theory to get 7 games for all involved monetarily.

This is why the schedules of NBA referees is the biggest secret in the sporting world and why Stern went ballistic when van Gundy made his complaints about referee's having agendas.

Reff'ing has been bad on both sides. With the exception of game 1 where they let them play, the refs have been very inconsistent. While I do feel that 3rd foul call was horrible on Shaq tonight, I cant tell you how many times I have seen him get away with fouls under the rim or traveling. and rasheed got a away with a couple that should have been called, as usual.

Like I said, it's been bad all around

Which game are you talking about? Game 2, 3, or 4?

Take your pick.

Like I have said many times NBA=WWF......have you ever seen Larry Stern and Vince McMahon at the same time?......never!! because same person!!!

But as long as "we" can figure out the script before we bet "its all good"...now the question is does the NBA/WWF want the Phoenix/San Antonio series to really go at least 6 games ?...so how bad will Phoenix win game 5 and then return to SA for game 6?...or will Steve "Nasty" Nash come out from under the ring/court with a chair and hit Timmy The "D" Man and put him out of the game. Hmmmmmmmmmm?

Sorry guys, I just don't buy it. If you really believed the NBA was like the WWF, you wouldn't watch it. Nobody would. And a few bad calls doesn't do anything to help your case either.

Illini, why do you think stern came down so hard on van gundy? because the perception is everywhere that these games are fixed and I am becoming a believer in that.

I don't believe they are fixed, but....

I believe a league that does not send the best refs to a Conf. Championship game...Does not let who is reffing these games before hand be known...
Have wild fluctuations in how the game is being called with the same two teams being involved game after game doing the same things...

I would say that Stern and the NBA would give an advantage to who they want to win a particular game...

I.E. a assigning a referee who usually calls alot of fouls against Shaq, a referee who leans to the home team with his calls, A referee who is easy on one team and not the other...

I believe the NBA referees could be classified ( If we actually went back and looked at games they reffed) much like baseball umpires calling balls and strikes... Which umps have the home teams win a high % when they are behind the plate, etc......

So fix, no I don't believe so just a little help or edge to who they "want to win the game...

Because Van Gundy basically accused the league of having an agenda, which can be construed as a fix. Someone challenges your integrity, and of course you're going to react like he did. The good, clean competition is central to the league, or the league would fold. Period.

T-Hawk, I don't agree, although some will agree with you. I've been an umpire at high levels of baseball, and I know the mentality of officials. Officials put so much effort into performing one of the toughest jobs in the world. They try to be perfect in a job where mistakes are inevitable, yet inexcusable. The casual fan has no idea how tough of a job that it is, and doesn't know how much they are critiqued on every call. I know that NFL and NBA refs watch every call that they make on tape, and receive a grade on each performance. I don't know how the scheduling is done, but it's irrelevant, in my opinion. If there is any hint of favortism by the league to get a matchup that would boost revenue, that would be the end of the league. Many will disagree with me, but I have faith in the league. If you truly feel that way, then don't bother to watch.

Illini, I to am an official in hockey...I do believe the league is on the up and up
I do not believe 100% the league does not set factors in to make things easier for one team or another...Tell me how the NBA does not always have the best officials doing these late season playoff games???

Tell me why they do not let it be known in advance who is officiating the game???

I agree the officials are on the up and up but different officials will call things differently...Like I said how can two teams play in a series and do the same things, play the same style and one game is called different than the next...
One thing is a foul one game and the next it is not a foul...

The league manipulates the officials, I have done some research on this in the past...Officials will be consistant and they are all very good but they are not all equal and call things exactly the same...

The same thing in hockey, football, baseball, soccer, and all sports with on field officials...

All the NBA does is use the officials tendencies to decide who is going to do what game...Never said fixed just they will try and make it a little in favor of what they want without doing it openly...Face it the NBA wants longer series, they want certain teams to move on all they do is make the odds of what they want a little better...

I do believe if you tracked officiating crews during a season much like baseball umpires you would come up with some trends...

When was the last time there were 97 FT's taken in an eastern conference final game, game three was awful. You would figure the refs look at Detroit's defensive reputation and not call touch foul after touch foul. I guess the NBA just wants the scores to be high, becaus there is no reason why detroit should ever give up 113 points.
