Poker coverage has just exploded in the past year, bringing with it a huge influx of new recreational players. The result is that very loose, beatable games can be found.

Good read by Fezzik, who is a mathemarical and gambling genius. While somewhat of a poker novice 99.5 % of you should listen to what he says.
Fez, please read my reply to you sir.

Good read and very accurate IMO. Hit the poker room late tonight. There is usually money being thrown away. I normally blame it on drug or alcohol addictions. Late night world champ wanna-bes throwing their money down the drain. And, if I make profits here, then I assure many of you can.

General,
I can't tell you the number of 2-4 players that put on the "moneymaker" sunglasses or have the "farha" cigarette sticking out of their mouth.
It is comical to look at them staring down a guy who has 4-7 offsuit and raising and trying to bluff them out.

They have 3/6 blind no-limit locally with $200 maximum buy-in. Wish I knew how to play this game. Apparently one guy walked away after 18 hours with $9000 on two buy-ins.

Only hope that game doesn't suck too much out of the poker economy.

To me, here is the big question about poker (mainly the NL hold'em craze). Yes, the skilled, experienced pro's will win in the long run. However, can a guy with a basic understanding of the game can catch some cards and win big? Yes, Moneymaker (although he has some good skills), James Vogel (this guy said his grandmother could have won with his cards), Chris Hinchcliff, who won a $25 satellite and turned it into $400,000 in a WPT event...the list goes on and on. To me the novices who play in cash games without educating themselves first are not too bright, but the avg. guy who only risks say $25-$50 on a satellite with a chance at a big prize is not really doing anything that stupid because his risk is small and limited. Too me this is the allure, get in a satellite cheap and hey, see what happens. I would only play this way or in home games (known skill level of competition) until I am much better and have more experience.

There is nothing wrong with taking shots at hitting big, but it would be wise along the way to sit in the tables mentioned to pick up a few loose dollars because the bottom line is that your chance of hitting it big are to slim to try and bank on that alone. Just like sportsbetting, look at poker like an investment always trying to add that xtra .50 cents when possible.

Good luck
