Pedro Martinez visited the Evil Empire Tuesday, meeting with Yankees owner George Steinbrenner at New York's spring training complex in Tampa, Fla. Martinez was accompanied by agents Fernando Cuza and Pat Rooney. New York vice presidents Mark Newman, Billy Connors and Damon Oppenheimer also attended. FWIW as far as I'm comcerned the Yanks can have the overpriced pain in the ass.

I don't think he's a good fit. I'm thinking unit and Hudson, as a start. Beltran also. Get a first baseman , too, and while you're at it add I-Rod. :dancefool

now that he has slept with the enemy i dont want him. im so sick of his primadonaness. now that he had lunch with the yankees thats all were going to hear about. he is obviously mentally ill if he thinks 2 years 20 million with 07 08 options isnt good money for a guy his age. its the same money schill got wtf is the problem.

im a big pedro fan, but its hard dealing with this high strung dominican. he didnt even give it a chance he just boom ate with stienny. have him. we need to keep ticket prices down. its a business!!

Goes to show it's all about the money.

Look at Emmitt Smith. The guy plays his whole career in Dallas and goes to Arizona for what very might well be his last season. G-D forbid these greedy bastards take a pay cut and do the right thing.

I didn't hear that Rob...That makes it worse IMO...If he goes to NY for more guaranteed money at this point, I think thats sad...and really takes away from his legacy in Boston....

Emmitt Smith may be the most overrated player in professional sports. give Barry Sanders that dallas line of the 90's and Barry would have SHATTERED the record

I know Boston will hate him but would the Yankee fans embrace him? He is obviously on the decline. I would hate to be him starting the season out with a few bad games.

Schilling is much older ( about 6-7 years ?). Pedro has better credientials. He has awesome W/L record and percentage. I don't want him on my team for megabucks, but you have to look at him.

Personally I often bet against him, I think he's in decline, but he has done a lot !

Pedro is younger on paper, but how much younger is his arm and body?

Schilling is a bear, and over the next 3 years may still have alot lleft...Pedro may not...

At some point money can't matter...How could he go to NY after all this?

What happened to his love of his teammates?

Who will he rub heads with in NY, Oscar Gamble retired 20 years ago?

I can't wait to see Pedro knock that unprofessional castaway freak Damon off the plate.

Ok, aside from that -- what an unloyal jerk.

Maybe he just wants the chance to taunt Jeter daily ... Pedro is a wacko.

The yankees don't need to get too out of control IMO. They were what....2 outs away from going to the WS? I think we all agree they would have beaten the cardinals or at least had a good chance. I don't think Beltran is going there at all. Nor do I think that's a good idea for them to take him.
