I just think it's funny. On the one hand, they sit and complain about those evil Oil companies and all the profit they're making. One widely recognized economic principle says that when you subsidize something you get more of it, and when you tax it you get less. Obama, of course, chooses to subsidize "green" energy company that don't make a lick of profit and is in all assault mode to end tax breaks to oil companies. Yes, these oil companies are making profits but none above 10% as a percent of revenue. Where is the outrage regarding Apple and all the profit they make? I mentioned to a Liberal buddy, it's because he likes Apple (he owns everything they make). And that justifies it for him. I asked him why he never complains about all the overseas jobs Apple creates (especially in China). I told him, if I didn't know better, I'd say he was acting fiscally responsible. Otherwise, where's the outrage on not putting those Union people to work he so faithfully defends? Could it be their labor costs are a bit high? He also is an anti-gun advocate. So I thought I'd blow him away with another comparison. I told him in my entire life, I have never had one incident involving a firearm. Yet, using his anti-gun logic, I told him I have been in countless dangerous encounters involving Iphones, Ipads, and Ipods. He looked at me like I was out of my mind. But I told him nearly on a weekly basis, I am trying to avoid some idiot that has walked in front of my car (usually jaywalking or walking if front of my car while I am exiting a building...even though a horn is going off and lights are flashing on a sign that says "car approaching"). These stupid Apple geeks are so caught up texting someone on a phone, listening to music, or reading something on their Ipads, that they constantly put themselves or others in danger (due to an emergency maneuver someone needs to make while driving) because they are oblivious to their surroundings. I further went on to tell him that SF in #1 in the country in pedestrian fatalities (undoubtedly due to these Apple Geeks). Should I blame Steve Jobs for creating a society of inept, non-social geeks whose lives are a virtual one based on his technology?
